A WORD FROM FR. IVAN
Christmas day, our Lord’s birth is now with us. Christmas Day falls on Wednesday. As this Wonderful Time of
the Year approaches, I thought it would be good to make a few suggestions.
Remind our children that what we celebrate is not the coming of Santa Claus but the birth of Jesus. The ges-
ture of giving and receiving gifts remind us that God is the greatest gift for each other. He gave us his Son.
Gather as a family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After 4pm Christmas Eve Mass facilitate having din-
ner at a more convenient time. Also if you are planning to come to the 10PM Christmas Mass you can have
dinner earlier and prepare your family to wait in the Church for the Birth of Jesus. On Christmas Day also
plan to have a meal as a family. It’s the time to spend with family. If you know a friend or a family member
that he/she will be alone on Christmas eve or day please visit them or invite them to join you.
On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day as you gather as family you can read the passage of the Lord’s birth
from one of the Gospels, sing some Christmas Carols in front of the Nativity Scene of your house. These are
the traditions that as children growing up remain part of us.
Spare a thought for people who work on Christmas Day, that we are able to enjoy the services that we take for
granted. I am thinking of Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Hospital
Personnel, Utility Workers etc.
Remember the Christmas season is a beautiful time that includes the
Feasts of the Holy Family (Dec 29), Epiphany (January 5) and Baptism
of our Lord (January 12). I encourage you to keep your Christmas
Decorations up till then.
I ask every family (each according to their means) to make a generous
donation to the parish this Christmas. “There is more joy in giving
than in receiving” (Acts 20:35).
I wish you a blessed Sunday and a Merry Christmas to All.

Boiler Repair. In the beginning of the December one of the boilers started to leak water. We discoversed that
we need to make major repairs on it, namely changing the whole bottom part of the boiler. Due to this situation, I
have started the work guided by our Maintenance Staff—John VanCura and Jenaro Vera—and John Stafford
(consulter from our finance committee on our grounds and maintenance).
The cost is close to $30,000. I would appreciate if anyone can make a donation for this effort.
Thanks for your generosity.
