Product Structure

UMG8900 can be divided into two parts: service switching

module and user access module.

Service switching module(SSM):

performs the traffic flow format processing and switching function. Act

as TG or as a switch in NGN.

User access module(UAM):

provides integrated access function for both narrowband and

broadband users act as AG.

Service Switching Module

Service switching module (SSM) of UMG8900 is consisted of 4 parts:

Main control frame

implements management and maintenance functions of the whole device and supports

service access and process simultaneously.

Service frame

provides service bearer process function.

Central switching frame

provides multi-frame cascading function when multi-frame cascading (≥3 frames).

Extended control frame

is configured when the device is in the maximum configuration. The extended frame

does not support access and process functions of bearer services, but provides

connection management and control function.

conversion and service bearer adaptation

VPU is responsible for voice transcoding and physical

boards is FVPB;

The software system is divided into two parts by their different

functions and applications: host software and LMT system.

The host software is further divided into lower-layer base

software, service application software and maintenance and

management software.

UMG8900 is managed and maintained by the BAM module in

a hard disk built in the UMG8900 host.
