PAT & MIKE LANCTOT

We have been breeding Labrador Retrievers under the Ebonylane prefix since 1974. Our kennel name became permanently registered with the Canadian Kennel Club in 1979. Dogs bearing the Ebonylane prefix can be found in virtually every corner of the world.

We are very proud to have been named “Pedigree Pal Breeders of the Year” in 1991. Our Motto has always been to breed dogs with type, temperament and trainability. To this end we have produced over 100 champions, many of which are in hunting homes and top ranking in obedience trial competition. There are many Ebonylane seeing eye dogs, dogs that are used in drug detection, as well as search and rescue. First and foremost we would like to believe that all our Ebonylane dogs are valued family companions.

In 1984 our breeding ranked Top in Breed competition in both Canada and the United States – Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Buccaneer Gold in Canada and Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Yellow Poplar in the USA. These dogs were both out of Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Cotton Candy. Their sires were litter brothers – Am.Can.Ch Ebonylane’s Aslan (top champion producing sire of all time) and multiple Best in Specialty winner Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Midnite Bandit.

Over the years we have held executive positions in several clubs: Member of the Canadian Kennel Club Event Officiating Committee, Director of the Canadian Dog Judges Association, Director of the St Lawrence Region Dog Judges Association, Charter Vice President of the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada and Charter President of the Atlantic Labrador Retriever Club. We are Life Members of the Canadian Kennel Club, The Labrador Retriever Club of Canada, The Labrador Owners Club, The Hochelaga Kennel Club and the Chateauguay Valley Kennel Club. We are also members of the American Dog Judges Association and Mike is President of the Cornwall District Kennel Club.

We were both approved to judge at Championship shows by the Canadian Kennel in 1994 and are both licensed to judge All Breeds. Back in the 80’s we both judged sweeps at the American Labrador Retriever Club National Specialty and have been invited to judge the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada National Specialty in 2017. We have judged Labrador Retriever Specialties in many provinces of Canada, many states of the United States, Argentina and Holland. In addition to all the provinces of Canada, we have judged at All Breed shows in Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, China, Columbia, Holland, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Thailand and 19 states of the USA.

In our other lives, Pat is a retired Paramedic currently working for the City of Cornwall responsible for the Public Access Defibrillator Program and teaching Emergency Medical courses. Mike is a retired CN Railroad Field Manager of Claim Services for the Atlantic Provinces and has recently retired again from owning and operating his own personal computer business.

Over the years we have been very fortunate to enrich our lives with our dogs and the people we have met through them. We look forward to judging your dogs today and having the opportunity of meeting new friends.

Has participated in judge preparation courses, and he is a member of a committee of examination and selection for new judges.

He is qualified by the Boxer Club of Brazil as a specialist judge for the Boxer breed (since 1980).

Has been a judge at several All Breeds Shows in all states of Brazil, including specialized Club Shows. Has participated in the World Dog Show FCI, and International Shows around the world ( Australia (Royal Shows), Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, South Africa, Portugal and Central and South America).

LANA FERGUSON

My involvement in purebred dogs began in 1979. My first show dog was a Dalmatian, CH Aiglons Pixie CD. In our very first show Pixie went BPIG and, as they say, the rest is history. I was hooked. Going forward I spent many years showing Dalmatians in both the conformation and obedience rings. During those years I occasionally handled Shetland Sheepdogs for my mother who was very involved in obedience.

In 1999 I purchased my first Doberman Pinscher BIS CH Devonquest Misdemeanor CD, CGC (Devon). Dobermans have been my passion since Devon entered my life and I have been committed to the breed ever since.

Over the years I have bred Dalmatians and Dobermans under the Legendale prefix. I currently am active in conformation, nosework, obedience, lurecoursing as well as barn hunt. I am a Life Time member of CKC, member of DPCA and DPCC.

I am a licenced Mortgage Broker and have owned my own business Verico Vistabay Mortgages Inc., for many years. I am an avid curler and enjoy golfing when time permits.

This is an exciting time for me as I begin embarking on my judging career.
