About College :

Established since 1860, Gujarat College is one of the oldest institutions in the state of Gujarat.

Located in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad, with a sprawling campus and Victorian architectural

buildings, its Arts and Science faculties closely knit the college. It's reputation for outstanding

achievements is known world-wide and reflects the intellectual achievements of the students. Institute

has 30 Acres (12.14 hectors) of land right in the center of city and within the city that plays a hub of

educational and research institutes of national & international repute like PRL, IPR, liAR, NIFT, NID,

ISRO, liM, A TIRA, amidst universities like CEPT, Gujarat University, Pt. Deendayal Petroleum

University, Nirma University, Babasaheb Ambedkar University, Gujarat Forensic Science University and

IGNOU, P.G.Department of Electronics.

At present the college houses 12 departments of Arts faculty, 8 departments of science and a full

time degree course in drama. The institute is also having separate buildings for office, library, hostel,

gymkhana, canteen and Cooperative societies. The institute runs 21 undergraduate courses in all. The

institute has a student section to look after admission, registration, examinations, scholarships and other

associated activities.

The college is recognized under section 2 (f) and 12B of the UGC Act 1956 and is entitled to

receive grants from Government and its funding agencies including the University Grants Commission,

New Delhi and few others. The college was reaccredited by NAAC scoring grade 2.83 on four point

scale.
