“KurtBudkelaidthefoundationforthisprogram,”Littellsaid.“ItisourgoaltocontinuehisvisionforOklahomastate women’s basketball. We know that many challenges await us, but we are excited about the future of our program.”

DuringhistimeinStillwater,LittellhasbeeninstrumentalinhelpingOSUreachfiveconsecutivepostseasons,including three trips to the NCaa Tournament.

“Jimhasbeenagreatleaderforourprogram,”Holdersaid.“Thecircumstancesinwhichhehashadtonavigateare obviously very trying but he has been a rock over the past month for our women’s team and for the com-munity.”

A2009inducteeintotheNationalJuniorCollegeAthleticAssociationHallofFame,Littellcompiledaneye-popping set of numbers at his former post as the Lady saints won 87 percent of their games, tallying a 418-61 ledgerandproducingnineJayhawkWestConferencetitlesunderhisguidance.Overall,Littellownsa628-117mark as a head coach.

Anine-timeconferencecoachoftheyear,LittellwasnamedtheWBCANationalCoachoftheYearin2001andwasselectedasthetopcoachintheregiononfouroccasions,earningthedistinctionin1999,2002,2004and2005. LittellledSewardCountytoitsfirstRegionVItitlein1999andfollowedupwithregionaltitlesin2002,2004and2005.Inboth2000and2001,LittellledtheLadySaintstoaNo.1rankinginthefinalNJCAApollandacombinedrecord of 32-0 against conference opponents.

His2002squadproducedthreeAll-Americans,aperfect38-0markandtheschool’sfirst-evernationalchampion-shipinanysport.HewasnamedtheNJCAANationalTournamentCoachoftheYearthatsameseason.The2001-02seasoncappedathree-yearrunbytheLadySaintsthatproduced104winsagainstjusttwolosses.

Underhiswatch,theLadySaintsrecordedseven30-winseasons.Afterfinishingwitha14-16recordduringhisfirstseason,Littell’ssquadsneverproducedlessthan25winsinaseasonandaveragednearly32winsperyearagainstlessthanfourlossesoverthecourseofhisfinal13seasons.

The most impressive number of all may have come in the form of seward County’s home record in his 14 seasons. From1995-2004,theLadySaintsdidnotloseahomegame,postinga135-gamewinningstreakinsidetheSCCCActivitiesCentertosettheNJCAAnationalrecord.Duringthecourseofhisfinal13seasons,Littell’ssquadswon99 percent of their home contests, producing an astounding record of 189-2.

Alltold,hissquad’sproduced11All-AmericansandfiveRegionVIMostValuablePlayers.Ninetimes,oneofLit-tell’s players was tabbed as the Jayhawk West Conference Most Valuable Player, while four players from seward Countyearnedtheleague’sfreshmanoftheyearhonorunderhisdirection.

PriortohisrunatSewardCounty,LittellspentoneseasonatGardenPlainsHighSchool,postinga21-3mark.Ashead coach at Friends university from 1983-88, he produced a 95-39 record and a pair of conference champion-ships. he also served as the assistant men’s coach at Cameron (okla.) university from 1988-89.

LittellbeganhiscoachingcareeratOxfordHighSchoolin1978whereheproduceda94-14markandaKansasClass 2a state championship in 1981.
