Permits

Generally, you need to have a permit, if you are planning to have a new construction project whether it be installing a new carport/garage or expanding the existing ones. It's necessary to have a permit such as:-

-Building Permit,

-Electric Permit etc.

for the security purposes. So please be sure to get any permit required in your area and then go with the structure you would like to have.



Ground level(Flat land does not mean that the land is Level).

To make sure the custom carport is installed in the safest and securest possible manner, it is important to prepare the surface and the foundation on which that the carport or structure will rest.

Roof Styles



A- Frame (Boxed Eave)

It is more affordable since it does not have the hat channel and ridge cap that the vertical roof has to support the vertical panels. The roof bow/truss has a welded transition via a steel pin onto the legs. The underneath eave sides of the roof bow or truss is covered with boxed eave trim for a nice

finished appearance.



Vertical Style

This allows dirt, trash, water, and snow to exit off to the eave side of the building. Steel panels on home and business roof-tops are always installed vertically. The roof bow/truss has a welded transition via a steel pin on to the legs. This unit has vertical roof trim on the sides

and ends for a finished appearance as well as hat channel to support the vertical panels and it adds rigidity to the structure



Regular Style Carports

Regular Frame Design with the panels are installed horizontally. The corrugated ridges in the panel run from front to back or end to end. The regular style is the most economical unit since it does not have the hat

channel, the ridge cap, the eave-side trim, nor the welded transition from the roof bow/truss to the leg.



Width- Selecting the right size is

important.

- You should make sure that the custom carport will be

wide enough for your vehicle or equipment for which you

intend to use it.

- Carports come in standards widths of 12’, 18’, 20’, 22’, 24’, 26’, 28’, 30’, 32’, 34’ 36’, 38’,

and 40

For instance:

12’ - Single car, truck or RV

18’ - Two compact cars

20’ - Two midsized cars

22’ - Two full sized cars, trucks or SUV

24’ - Two full or oversized cars or trucks

26’ - Three midsized cars or truck



Length

AGAIN! Will you store only one car, or multiple cars in your new metal

carport?

The industry standard length for prefabricated carports are 21’, 26’,

31’, and up in 5’ increments.

Note: The roof of every structure is always longer than the base due to a 6” overhang on each end of the roof.



Side Height

Steel carport height is measured by the side height,

meaning the height on the sides of the structure, not from the very top point of

the roof to the ground.

The standard option offered on metal carports is 6’ height

with the height requirements increasing to 8’

for any structure 32’ or wider.

Side height is used to make sure a vehicle can clear the lowest point of the carport.

All RV carports 10’ and taller should have at least one panel on each side of the

carport.
