Throughout the brochure we use the following key:
Autumn means one thing in the world of film: awards season!
The long build up to those gold statues has begun.
People are talking Oscar and BAFTA - I’m talking
European Film Awards (EFAs) cause that’s where the
real gold is. The EFAs are giving Juliette Binoche
(one of my favourites ever since seeing Les Amants
du Pont-Neuf on TV in the early ‘90s) the European
Achievement in World Cinema Award. You can see
her terrific new film Non-Fiction in the first week in
November, as always she is wonderful.
We’re delighted that we are taking part in the London
Film Festival Closing Night Gala and showing Martin
Scorsese’s The Irishman. With a great cast (Pacino, De
Niro, Pesci, Keitel) this might be your only opportunity
to see it on the cinema screen. It’s certain to be one
of the biggest films of the year, and not just because
of its 210-minute running time.
There are films from around the world (and even
outside of Earth with James Gray’s Ad Astra and a little
alien visitor in Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon),
fiction and documentaries, a silent film, the Inverness
Film Fans new Music Season and the return of both
The Royal Opera and the MET.
I hope you enjoy what you see and please do let
me know what you think.
