During Novemhel" and December, 1956, a Magnetometer SUl"vey was conducted on th6 ~eabl"ook Option of Tarbutt Mines Ltd. The area of the survey lies 70 miles north of 'rt~essalon on the Chapleau Road.

The option consists of seventy claims, howev,'r, orly a portion of the ground was covered by the Magn~tometp.r Survey_

The country fi'urrounaine; Seabrook Lake has teen subject to a large forest fire several years ago. It is now falrly open and gre&t portions are without overbarden. Approximately one.thlrd of the area 1s covered by lakes.

Geology:

The country rocks in the area are gran1te .nd .yenlte, however, basic intrusive rocks are tre~uent. The dom1nant tectonic feature ot the area is an alkaline-bas1c 1ntrusive plug centered on the south ahare ot Seabrook Lake. Columb1um mineralization hal been found to be associated w1th the intrusive. The minera11zation occurs associated w1th ~gnetlte. It was tOft purpose of the magnetometer survey to detect concentrations or Mkgnetite MS well as to ,ain .tructural 1nformation.

The survey was connucted witn a Snarpe A2 Magnetometer (SensitivIty 1 scale unit. 20 Gatw,as) Ties were generally found to be nuite good and the daily variations were small compared with the local variation found in the are&.. Snow began to cover the ground shol'tly after the at(',!'l. of ttle survey an'; made geological observations difficult.

Lines were cut generally at a spacing of 400 teet, with some ground covered by closer spacing. Pickets are numbered every 100 feet on the land and every 400 teet on the i~e.

Centre Sheet:

North Sheet Centre Sheet South Sheet

The Centre Sheet contains ttLe intru8ive plug. Thls r'lug is very well indicated by several strong magnetic anomalies whIch form almost a circle. The knomklies are entirely

Tne core of the intrusive feature is not magnetIc. It appears probable that a cross faulting pattern In the north-sou~~ and in the east-west direction nas been 1ntruded by bas1e material, rich in magnetite. The central portion of the intrusive area either consists of material poor 1n magnetite or does not belong to the intrusive series at all. The magnetic high trends are ~urrounded by moderat~ low trends indicating steep to vertical dip of the magnetic bodies and con~lderahle extension to depth.

It is recommended to inyestigate the magnetic trends by ~ geological survey E'nd by surface pros­pecting.

A strong II&gnetlc higtl extends to the south trom the area ot the intrusiv.. The ma1n tectonic d1rection in the area appears to be slightly east or south and this kDOmaly, While certainly related to the intrusive, follows the regional trend.

South Sheet:

The South Sheet covers an area over a ~lle south of the maIn intrusjve and it wo~ld have to be established by geologicttl work whether the basic intrusive rocks in this area are still related to the alkaline intrusion in the north. Magnetic trends are frequent In this part of the are. and are quite strong. The irregular patt~rn of the anomaliea and their frequency suggest a rel.tion to the intrusive plug. or. at l~:ast complex tault1Qg. ?he trend of magnetic anom­alies striking through Claims 42804 and 4280b might be the souttu!rn prolongation ot the ano .. ly on the CH. tJf>e Sheet extending trom the intrusive. In the nvrthern portion of the -rea, several long ano_alief' follow the regi.onal south-east trend. The m&jorlty of these anomalies are caused by dykes. It appears to be sufticient to investIgkttD tnesa dykes on the shore ot Sekbrook L.ke and to assume uniformity under th~ Lake.

The hest columbium values are reported to the north of G&.I'1p IsIClnd klld do probably corresnond to the anomaly in the vicinity of I04N 30E. If such relation between the mineralization and the magnetic high can be established, it is recommended to investigate the trend by drillIng. The anomaly extends trom the snore to the east and is lIkely to be related to Ii r.ult in this direction. The tault appears to be expressed also by a dist­urbance ot the north-south trending dykes. At the present time, this trend appears to be the most prollisin5 one in the srea. Some ~outhern extenston cf the anomaly i8 Indi~~ted on the Centre Sheet and the anoma:!.ies in the vicinity of 48E, SaN might 3tl1~ . ~lon~ to the general trend. Such iut~ r .. c;ation woula assume that the l'Iineral1 ,atioxl folloW8 a circular pattern .round tIle centr,\l intrusive.
