INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Every Lexus utilises innovative technology for a peerless driving and ownership

experience. The RX 450h, for instance, is the first crossover in its class to be

fitted with low-beam Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology. Inside, its Remote

Touch controller revolutionises interaction with the multi-display screen. For

the highest level of luxury, our LS 600h L flagship sedan offers a reclining

rear seat that performs ‘Shiatsu’ massage. But, perhaps most importantly, all

our cars are designed to minimise environmental impact. Take, for example,

the 4-mode drive selector on CT 200h that lets you choose between Eco,

Normal, Sport and EV (Electric Vehicle) driving. Our new compact also

features plastic boot linings made using resin manufactured from sugarcane

ethanol, with indigenous, fast-growing bamboo offered as a trim option.

ADVANCED SAFETY

Nowhere is our attention to detail more critical than in the area of safety. It

begins with the inherent calm of the Lexus cabin that minimises distractions

and helps you remain alert. Then Vehicle Stability Control or Vehicle

Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) ensure you enjoy a safe drive.

All Lexus cars can also be equipped with our Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) system

that uses millimetre-wave radar to detect danger ahead. After warning the

driver and applying Pre-Crash Brake Assist, if a collision is unavoidable,

PCS engages Pre-Crash Brake to reduce speed and tensions both front

seatbelts before impact. Finally, inside the rigid passenger cell, every Lexus is

fitted with a comprehensive airbag shield and has Whiplash Injury Lessening

front seats to decrease neck motion in a rear end collision.

Lexus pioneered hybrid technology with the RX 400h, launched back in 2005

and has, since then, sold 250,000 cars fitted with Lexus Hybrid Drive. At

present, we remain the only luxury car manufacturer to offer a comprehensive

range of Full Hybrid vehicles. Each one features an incredibly advanced

powertrain. This provides you with the ultimate smooth and near-silent ride,

seamless linear acceleration, better fuel economy and very few harmful

emissions. Today, Lexus Hybrid Drive is available in four breakthrough Full

Hybrid cars: the CT 200h compact, the RX 450h crossover, the GS 450h

FULL HYBRID INTELLIGENCE

By intelligently combining an advanced petrol engine, electric motor(s)

and hybrid battery, Lexus Hybrid Drive is able to significantly reduce fuel

consumption while still delivering incredible performance for all types of

driving situations. In fact, no fuel is used, and no emissions are produced,

when the engine is turned off and the vehicle is operating in electric-only

mode. Additionally, on the RX 450h, LS 600h and CT 200h, the driver

can select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode for electric-only, emission-free driving

over short, low-speed distances. Importantly, Lexus Full Hybrids* produce

70% fewer harmful smog-forming emissions than the average new vehicle.

* In the more advanced hybrid vehicles, known as Full Hybrids, the combustion engine and electric motor work alongside

each other. Unlike Mild Hybrids, our vehicles not only start using electric power alone, but can also be driven solely by

electric power. At Lexus, all our hybrid vehicles are – and have always been – Full Hybrids.

START UP, DRIVING OFF

When starting off, the electric motor(s) can propel a Lexus Full Hybrid car up

to 45 km/h, with electric power being supplied from the hybrid battery. At this

point the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and produces zero emissions.

NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS

At speeds above 45 km/h the advanced petrol engine cuts in, almost silently,

but still receives assistance from the electric motor(s) when required. Through

the near perfect distribution of its dual power sources, Lexus Hybrid Drive

provides exceptional driving comfort – together with lower emissions and

fuel consumption.

23HOW DOES LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE WORK?

FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION

Accelerate powerfully and the electric motor(s) instantaneously supplements

the petrol engine. This delivers a surge of torque to provide powerful linear

acceleration precisely when you need it.

DECELERATION, STOPPING, BRAKING

When decelerating or coming to a halt, the petrol engine turns off, cutting

emissions to zero. Brake, or take your foot off the accelerator, and regenerative

braking harnesses the kinetic energy lost in other cars. It converts this into

electrical energy for storage in the hybrid battery, which is one reason why

you never need to recharge a Lexus Full Hybrid.

serviced by a Lexus Authorised Repairer. All

our certified diagnosis Master Technicians are

continuously kept up to date on Lexus servicing,

engineering and technology.

ENVIRONMENT

To reduce waste, parts replaced during servicing

are collected and recycled, while air conditioning

refrigerants are also recovered and reused. We are

researching more efficient dismantling technologies

for the time when the working life of your Lexus

is over, and are developing ways to use shredder

residue previously considered unrecyclable.

END-OF-LIFE VEHICLES

The legislation on end-of-life vehicles offers Lexus

drivers a new and innovative way of returning their

old vehicles to the producer.

FOR ALL VEHICLES

3-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY

This covers any defect a t t r ibutable

to a manufacturing or assembly fault under normal

use. It applies for three years or 100,000 km

(62,000 miles), whichever comes first, with no

mileage limitation in the first year.

3-YEAR SURFACE RUST AND PAINTWORK

WARRANTY

This warranty covers your vehicle for surface

rust and paint defects appearing on any of the

painted body panels due to a fault in material or

workmanship. There is no mileage restriction.

12-YEAR CORROSION WARRANTY

The warranty offers 12 years’ coverage, regardless

of mileage, against perforation of bodywork (from
