CLIC related Activities

Long UU history in beam instrumentation in CLIC 2004 call by CERN DG for participation in CTF3 Successful application to VR+KAW for the design

and construction of the TBTS Spawned FP6-EuroTeV participation and later

FP7-EuCARD Coordinated approach within Scandinavian

groups involved in CLIC/CTF3 led to formation of the NorduCLIC consortium

Optical Replica Synthesizer

Problem: measure ultra-short bunches in the 10s of fs range: EOS, TEO, LOLA, ORS

too fast for electronics (10 Gs/s, 100 ps)

but laser folks know (autocorrelation, FROG)

Solution: make an optical copy of the electron bunch and analyze that with laser methods.

CAI, the startup phase In 2007 CAI was established (B. Hjörvarsson,

chair and T. Ekelöf co-chair, VZ, director) In the KOF07 evaluation the need for the

functionality of CAI was clearly identified... ...and resulted in the funding of positions for two

Close relation to the Ångström workshop. We work on a wide portfolio of projects, both in-

house and externally.

Conclusion

Within the IFA department of the TekNat faculty we are

participating in exciting international accelerator collaborations CLIC/CTF3 FLASH and EuXFEL ESS (in the future)

and, at the same time, create a home-base to contribute design capacity through CAI.
