Status report of winter situation in
Mongolia
As of February 22, 2016
Difficulties in the countryside
Due to devalue of livestock raw material, herders are short in cash and have requested assistance in purchasing hay, cattle forage, warm clothes and food supplies.
Due to overgrazing in pasturelands in Dornod, Dornogobi, Sukhbaatar, Tov, Khentii, “Sheep flower” infecteous disease was spread and increasing (5 aimags, 18 soums, 1 district in the city; 21 cases)
Lack of emergency vehicles to provide services to citizens and herdersint eh rural areas. (13 aimags, 19 soums, districts 39 vehicles)
Due to snows, local roads are blocked.
Due to snow, and long cold days, cattle loss is increasing. (21 aimags, 211 soums, 348373 livetock )

Local companies, personal donations and assistance 818.2
million MNT, total 45.7 billion MNT worth supplies and
monetary assistance .
80.9% of the total territory was affected by dzud, 18 aimags,
175 soums’ 97.5 herder families were afflicted, 9.7 million
livestock (90% of livestock) lost, 527 billion MNT was the
damage.

Government of Mongolia 6.872.758.446.6 MNT;
International Red Cross, Red Crescent have donated to 1800
families 134.4 mln MNT; 37.5 tons of flour, 15 tons of rice, 3
tons of sugar, 1500 litres of vegetable oil, 1500 pcs salt, 1500
pcs tea being distributed now.
