The TPAN Ride for Life Chicago is the re-envisioned Ride for AIDS Chicago event that raises awareness and funds to support lifesaving care for people affected by HIV and health disparities. The Ride brings together hundreds of volunteers and advocates as well as thousands of donors to ensure that Chicagoans have access to the care and services that safeguard our community and support full healthy lives. This year, in the face of the COVID-19 crisis, our participants and volunteers have committed to collectively reach for 10,000 miles together—cycling, walking, running, or in any measured, personal challenge. The current pandemic strengthens our creativity and resolve, so even virtual participants from anywhere in the world can be part of the effort. Our theme, 10,000 TOGETHER, reflects our commitment to rally in the face of crisis, uplift one another toward a finish line, and help our community affected by HIV to stay safe, healthy, and thriving in challenging times. This year, the Ride has many meanings. The unity, tenacity, and passion of our HIV-affected communities is inspiration for this year’s theme, 10,000 miles TOGETHER. Join us.

Our mission is to save and empower lives affected by HIV and health disparities. In TPAN’s 32-year history, we have grown from a community-based effort to a full-service health organization that is now a critical safety-net care provider during the COVID-19 crisis. Today, TPAN is a care provider to thousands of vulnerable people in Chicago, and we are the only non-profit in the U.S. to publish a national education and health news magazine for people living with and affected by HIV. Serving our most at-risk community members. Now more than ever.

TPAN serves individuals across all identities of race, ethnicity, and gender. Most who access our care are LGBTQ individuals living on a low income, and people of color—community members most impacted by HIV in Chicago. TPAN’s Ride for Life Chicago supports direct care and services here at home. Through Positively Aware, TPAN also provides HIV-focused health and treatment information to people in rural areas, underserved cities, prisons and care systems. Our expertise in health care and HIV reaches all 50 states and many communities still living with the powerful stigma of HIV.

More than 1,200 people served last year. Hundreds of primarily homeless LGBTQ youth and vulnerable older adults served each year.

More than 100,000 readers of every issue - in every state of the U.S. 30 years of informing care and inspiring people affected by HIV.

TPAN Ride for Life Chicago is the re-imagined and re-named Ride for AIDS Chicago, an event with a rich history of raising awareness and supporting lifesaving HIV care and services. This year, the Ride reflects our broad community of volunteers, supporters, and advocates as well as the expansive nature of TPAN’s mission—one focused on all people affected by HIV/AIDS and all aspects of health and well-being. Ride for Life participants choose a personal challenge and goal in 10,000 Together! Anyone can reach for their finish line to make an impact, whether in miles or a measure that’s meaningful to you! We will each share our progress, tell our stories, and invite support of our efforts and TPAN’s mission. Cyclists, walkers, runners, and even dog walkers can join 10,000 Together. On September 13, we will gather in Chicago and online for a meaningful finish-line celebration.

The Ride for Life Chicago is a vehicle for profound storytelling, education, and empowerment. Through our stories, we reduce stigma and compel action. Our supporters include LGBTQ people, families, care providers, health advocates, and many people themselves living with HIV.
