My Dear Parishioners, This coming June, we will be celebrating the one year anniversary of the Ordination to the Deaconate of Deacon Gary Schoenenberger. Certainly we thank God for him, and we thank God for his response to the call to the Deaconate.

I am happy to report that we will have another great event to celebrate in June. Mr. Gregg Hoyer, who has been in formation in the Permanent Deaconate Program, has been called to Holy Orders by His Excellency, Archbishop Nelson Perez. His Ordination to the Deaconate will take place in the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Saturday, June 13, 2020. We certainly congratulate Mr. Hoyer and his whole family, and we will continue to pray for them as they prepare for his Ordination.

Of course, one of the ways to gauge the health of a parish is by the number of vocations to the Priesthood, Deaconate, and the Consecrated Life that a parish produces. These recent vocations to the Permanent Deaconate along with our seminarian studying for the priesthood and our young lady preparing for First Vows at the Carmelite Monastery of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph near Gettysburg, means that we have a truly healthy and prosperous parish.

Along those lines, our recent guest priests have all commented what a great parish we have here. Moreover, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart want to come every weekend, because they love it here. More signs that we have a great community.

Lastly, in the face of the Coronavirus, I of course do encourage common sense, prayer, and a steadfast holding on to the Faith. Pope Francis offered this prayer to the Blessed Mother for her help and protection during these trying times:

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, pray for us! Fr. Michael J. Pawelko

““PARISH PANtRY” EASTER 2020 We are in the midst of our Lenten journey and quickly moving towards the glorious celebration of Easter! Our Parish Pantry would like to provide the food for a nice Easter dinner for the families we serve; we are continuing to help more than 30 families who are facing difficult circumstances! So in addition to our usual needs, the Pantry is collecting boxed scalloped potatoes, canned vegetables, canned fruit, non-alcoholic sparkling cider, frozen Pepperidge Farm cakes, and cans of coffee/boxes of tea; the Pantry would also like to provide gift cards for each family to use towards the purchase of an Easter ham.

The Pantry’s Easter food distribution will take place on Sunday, April 5. Donations of non-perishable food can be placed in the Parish Pantry bins in the church narthex; frozen cakes can be placed in the freezer in the usher’s room at the end of the hall off the narthex. Gift cards can be easily purchased and donated via the Parish scrip table.

Please feel free to contact Deacon Gary or Pat Schoenenberger at 215 230 8897 if any further information is needed. Your support of this important ministry was a true blessing at Christmas for the families we serve; we would like to similarly bless these families at Easter! We can’t thank you enough for your ongoing assistance and generosity! May our good Lord bless YOU and YOUR families for all the good that you do in His name!
