10 travel photography tips for amateur photographers
TRANSCRIPT
DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Read travel books, brochures, tips from other photographers. While you’re there, find out more about local customs.
GET OUT THERE AND GET LOST.Get out there and step beyond the borders set by travel guides! Discover the real rhythm of the place you’re visiting!
ALWAYS HAVE YOUR CAMERA WITH YOU.Wonderful things happen when we least expect them.
NEVER BE IN A HURRY.The spirit of a place hides. Make time to find and capture it on camera.
ASK PERMISSION IF YOU WANT TO PHOTOGRAPHY SOMEONE.Usually, people are flattered that someone wants to photograph them, and they are okay with it,
DON’T TRY AND SEE IT ALL.Don’t settle for just one photo of a certain subject. Try to capture it from different angles, in different moments of day.
BE INVISIBLE.
Blend in with the locals and find out their stories before taking photos. Focus on becoming one with the surroundings.
HAVE FUN.
Your photos capture your emotions and, if you’re not having fun, something will be missing from them.
STOP MAKING EXCUSES.You will take great photos even with your pocket camera. Invest in books and read online about it. Professional equipment helps (a lot!), but until you will get there, you need to know what photography is all about.
NEVER STOP TRAVELLING.You need to keep on traveling, even if this means to travel in your own town and capture its story on camera. You don’t need to go to India or Bora Bora for impressive photos. Just give it a try!
