Steps to Success When creating a music video there are certain things
that need to take place in order for it to be successful
Here is a little summary of these steps.
Step 1 - Research
Watch a lot of music videos
Analyze the different genres
Consider what you’re planning to deliver
Remember the Music video needs to sell the music and artist
There are different conventions for different genres
Step 2 - Getting in a Group Being with friends - good times might get in the way of work
Are people reliable?
Necessary - communication, organization and practical skills
Performers - Be prepared and give energy
Exchange phone numbers
Set a deadline for the project earlier than actual deadline
Step 3 - Choosing a Track
Don’t chose a song on the basis of personal tastes
Make sure the music or lyrics stimulate ideas
Think of possible locations, performers & shots
Don’t be tempted by popular music
Shooting local band - danger of self indulgence
Step 4 - The Pitch
Be prepared to pitch
Single page of ideas
Needs to stand out
Be clear as a group in terms of what you’re intending
Be clear and simple
Step 5 - Look at Past Students
Look at material from a similar context as your own
See what can be achieved and what can go wrong
