1 Begin With The End in Mind
Whether for work or in life, always start a project focusing on the outcome.
Whether it is a small or a big job, focus on what you want to achieve; then think backwards which stepping stones you need to take in order to get where you want to be.
Stepping stones are like a todo list on your way to success.
2 Communication
Understanding people.Actively listening to people.
Using techniques like NLP, DBM, transactional analysis, body language, verbal and nonverbal communication.
Read people right; make people feel right too!
3 Think Win/Win
Business is only sustainable if all parties involved benefit from it.
Business is built on trust and belief, deep understanding and relationship building.
4 Enjoy What You Are Doing
Be passionate about your work and enjoy what you are doing.
You spend most of your day at work, so choose carefully who you work with, who you work for and what you work on.
Be positive about work!
5 Reflection
Take time off to relax and reflect. Take time off (line).
Make a list of things to dwell on.
Medidate: walk 30 minutes at lunch, 30 minutes on your commute, calm your mind whilst waiting for someone.Do it often, do it regularly.
6 Time Management
A topic in itself.
Be organised.Only plan 70% of your time.Accept you have days you work more than others.Accept your productivity has nothing to do with time spent on a task.Prioritise.Use a trusted system (GTD/Evernote)
7 Financial Planning
Take "calculated" risks.
Be able to live of less than you have. Use a buffer (savings) for unexpected expenses.
Don't overspend or overstretch.
8 Help Others
Help others when you can and they let you.
Coach and develop people.
Make others a priority.
Do something for the "greater good", be charitable.
9 Mentors
Find mentors in your own company or outside your existing company that help you to develop.
Find trusting relationships that last for your whole career to guide you.
10 Life - Life / Work - Life Balance
Hobbies: clubs, exercise, balancing your life at work with your life at home.
Stay healthy, stay fit.
Have a family/partner/relationship to fall back on; children to give you a greater purpose than yourself.
Thanks.
