2015 was truly a remarkable year. Takea trip down memory lane while browsing

through the paper and see what wonderfulspecials all the businesses have in store.

Just as we thought everyone can relax and start enjoying the

Festive Season, theR555 was under attack again.

THE R555 at Steelpoort was blocked by burning trucks after protesting Mampuru community members stopped and set them alight on Monday afternoon, Limpopo police said. “Travellers in that area are advised to avoid travelling on that road or to drive carefully. The road linking Burgersfort and Eerstegeluk is completely closed with burning tyres and stones,” spokeswoman Colonel Ronel Otto said. “Motorists are also advised not to stop when people next to the road flag them down as if pretending to be hiking for a lift.” Otto said police were deployed to the area. She advised motorists travelling in the area, especially the Eerstegeluk area, to drive carefully after members of the Mampuru community blocked the R555 and set trucks and busses alight on Sunday night. She said the main road was opened on Monday morning but that traffic flowing although some roads in the Eerstegeluk area were still closed. Otto said no arrests were made yet and that the community was complaining about the building of a new road in the area that was promised but not yet implemented.

We wish our clients,

24 September 2015:

POLICE confirmed on Tuesday that three suspects were arrested in a farm attack case. The suspects can be linked positively to the attack and the weapons used were found in their possession. It is possible that one of the farm workers was involved and that it is an inside job. Mr Alan (57) and Mrs Estelle (58) Bullen were attacked on Friday 18 September on their farm in the Badfontein area, outside Lydenburg. They are well-known in the Badfontein area and the Lydenburg community. Neighbors of the couple alerted the policeThe attack and gruesome way she was burned with an iron on her body sent shockwaves through the whole town throughout the weekend. According to the police report Mr Bullen went outside to close the gate just after 19:00 on their farm. His wife was still in the house. He was suddenly approached by about seven unknown males who pointed firearms at him. They tied Mr Bullen up with a rope to a tractor and went inside the house. Allegedly the suspects found her and demanded the keys to the safe. She told them that the keys were with her husband and they started to burn her with a warm iron. Both of them were seriously injured. Other suspects went out and brought Mr Bullen inside the house and demanded the safe keys. He gave them the keys and they opened the safe. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash, two rifles, 1 x .38 special revolver and a pellet gun.

Farm attack shocked the community this year

They were both admitted to Nelspruit Medi Clinic and according to reports Mr Bullen was released on Sunday but by the time of going to press Mrs Bullen was still hospitalized. She was still being treated for the burn wounds. The police are still investigating the case.

• Follow up: The suspects have appeared in court again and a court date was set for next year.

21 Mei 2015:THE Lydenburg SAPS once again warned motorists and vehicle owners that remote jamming devices are being used. A criminal will jam the signal of the car's alarm and remote and the owner will walk away. Then the criminals will use the opportunity to burglarise the vehicle. Sgt Elizabeth Magoa said that there was video footage confirming the theft at a shopping centre. It has also allegedly happened at Nedbank and the Standard Bank ATM with tourists. The incident happens when a person leaves their vehicle (or home) and pushes the remote to activate the locking and alarm system, a criminal pushes a similar remote at the same time effectively blocking the signal of the locking remote. This is called remote jamming, car jamming or carjam.Using a remote device to block or jam the locking device to motor vehicles has unfortunately become an everyday occurrence in South Africa. This could be due to the simplicity of the crime is so quick that detection is extremely difficult and the perpetrators have often left the premises before they can be apprehended.

Watch out for burglarsover the Festive Season

This modus operandi is by no means a new phenomenon and is not limited to shopping centres and occurs wherever a person may park their car. Shopping centre management across the country is doing everything in their power to stop this scourge and have asked the public to be aware. In order to avoid becoming a victim of this crime a few simple steps can be followed:Be aware of the surroundings at all times and take note of suspicious persons or activity in and around the parking area. Report suspicious activity to centre management or security. Do not leave valuables in an unattended vehicleNever push the remote locking whilst walking away from the vehicle. Check that the vehicle is locked by testing the door before walking away. Ensure the boot is locked. Please phone Sgt Magoa at 082 628 3172 to report this or the local SAPS at 013 235 2222.

Partytjiegaste is sagte teikens, so wees wakker.

Want dan sal jy hoor: “Natuurlik weer gesuip as jy my vra.”Dat Kersfees meer liefde sal openbaar.

Miskien is Krismis nie so’n slegte idee nie.

Skenk ons 'n helder Somerkersfees in hierdie land, o Heer.

Skenk ons 'n helder Somerkersfees in hierdie land, o Heer.

Geen liedjie roer my soos Somer Kersfees nie of gee my soveel heimwee nie.

What a privilege to be able to write a weekly column. Thank you for everyones support. Sometimes the ‘Outoppie’ ruffles feathers and keeps people talking. ‘Hoorhierso’ also reiterates ‘the good and bad in the world in a humourous way”. Both

columns give the newspaper an unique voice. From Andre and Michelle.

MPUMALANGA Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe said that women who become abused should not be afraid to open cases so that perpetrators face the consequences of their actions. Shongwe was speaking during the Provincial launch of 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children abuse in Pienaar near Mbombela on Saturday, 28 November 2015.The MEC said that the problem with abuse cases was that most of the women were afraid to open cases against their abusers because they were either bread winners or were of particular standing in society. He said that victims should report to the police and

Women should not be pressured to withdraw abuse cases- MEC Shongwe

also assist the police to investigate such cases so that they are resolved.“Our women must stand their ground and stand by their statements even in the most difficult and trying times,” he said.As part of fighting the scourge of gender based violence, the MEC further called on traditional leaders to instil proper cultural practices and moral values among people that they lead. According to the MEC, the abuse women and children is a reflection on the society's moral standing and therefore, abuse is a societal problem which should collectively be addressed by all. He said that although violence against women and children takes place behind closed doors, the community should intervene as part of rectifying moral decay in the society. Shongwe also said: “if we have a community with good morals, we cannot produce old men who will rape a one year old baby, a boy who will rape an 80 year woman and kill her.The impact of alcohol abuse on women and child abuse was also highlighted with the MEC saying some mothers neglect their children when they are drunk and even abuse them emotionally and physically. Shongwe also lambasted men who stay at taverns until late only to go home and abuse their partners and children. He has called on liquor outlets owners to ensure that they comply with the law by not among others allowing children in their establishments. He also stated that parents should take a lead in protecting their children by ensuring that they do not go to taverns because they could end up becoming victims of crime.

It is always a privilege to stand at the end of a very challenging year and look back at what happened.2015 has been a year of major changes in our mine,

the whole valley, the mining industry, the country as a whole and even the world.

We have seen great accomplishments and people making us proud, but we also saw lots of tragedies and violence that left us sad and worried about our future.

All in all, I know that God has been with us every step of the way. This time is a time of giving. This year, I want to challenge every person to not only focus on the giving to our families and loved ones,

but also spare a moment to think about the reason for the season. We are celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and in this Spirit,

do one thing different this year, give a gift to Jesus, touch someone’s life in a special way, give away time, give away love, give away something of yourself to those in need.

Go and be the difference you want to see, go and be thehands, feet, eyes, ears and heartbeat of Jesus to the world around you.

Rian Burger, General ManagerDwarsrivier Mine

As we head into 2016, let His love, joy and peace lead you into making a difference in the world. Let us make sure 2016 will be a year that we will remember for the way God’s hand has moved in our beloved Sekhukhune.

We need His love now more than ever. Be blessed, be safe and be a blessing in this wonderful time of rest and reflection. May you and your loved ones have a blessed Christmas and 2016 filled with the power of God.

To every employee and person connected to Dwarsrivier Mine in 2015, thank you so very much for being part of our journey. We are looking forward to the road ahead, making a difference every day!

Dwarsrivier is proud to be a part of this community and look forward to growing in 2016!

On average, you can pocket R65 an hour for small breeds and R75 an hour for bigger dogs.Game rangerIf animals and wildlife are your thing, why not volunteer as a game ranger? You can for

A topic that received big attention and press through out the year: 25 June 2015:A MAN appeared in the Skukuza Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for rhino poaching related crimes, Mpumalanga police said. Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said two suspects were arrested after members of the SA Police Service and SANParks rangers arrested them in two separate incidents. “Carlos Mathebula, 34, appeared at the Skukuza Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 10 June 2015 and Margaret Mthetwa, 41, appeared at the Pienaar Magistrates' Court on Friday, 19 June 2015,” Naidoo said. “Mathebula, a Mozambican national, was charged with possession of an illegal firearm, possession of illegal ammunition, and trespassing after a 458 hunting rifle with the serial number filed off and two 458 live rounds were found in his possession during his arrest.” SANParks rangers spotted Mathebula in the Kruger National Park, he allegedly pointed the rifle at them in an attempt to escape, then he was subsequently shot at and injured. Naidoo said Mathebula's case was heard in absentia at the Skukuza Magistrates' Court on Wednesday June 3, because of the injuries he sustained during the pursuit and subsequent shooting. The case was remanded. Mthethwa was arrested in Zwelisha, Pienaar, where she was charged with possession of ammunition, possession of rhino poaching equipment and possession of cash not accounted for. Naidoo said during her arrest, SAPS members found five 375 rounds, an axe with blood stains, a pocket scale and a large sum of money unaccounted for. www.iol.co.za

ARGUABLY the most anticipated new model launch in SA, the Ford Mustang, has finally become a reality. The latest Mustang, unveiled on 17 April 2014 to mark its remarkable 50th anniversary, is now finally available for sale in South Africa following the commencement of right-hand drive production for the first time at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. In terms of powertrains, buyers have the option of a 5.0-litre V8 or the all-new 2.3 EcoBoost engine. Notably, both engines can be matched to a choice of either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, and there's the option of both Fastback and Convertible body styles to suit every taste.Ford's 5.0-litre V8 engine employs sequential multiport electronic fuel injection and variable camshaft timing to produce a hefty 306kW of power, along with a thunderous 530Nm of torque. As the most powerful and fastest-accelerating Ford ever sold in South Africa, this enables the Mustang 5.0 V8 GT Fastback Manual to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.8 sec.The line-up includes the all-new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that brings state-of-the-art technology to Mustang, delivering turbocharged performance with outstanding fuel efficiency. This ground-breaking engine uses direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging to deliver impressive all-round performance with 233kW and 430Nm of torque on top - sufficient to achieve a remarkable 0-100km/h time of 5.8 sec for the 2.3 EcoBoost Fastback Manual. Despite its dynamic potential, the 2.3 EcoBoost engine uses just 8.0l/100km in the combined cycle, linked to 179 g/km CO2 emissions. Both 2.3-litre EcoBoost and V8-powered GT Mustang models feature high-performance brake packages behind 19-inch wheels as part of the Performance Pack fitted as standard on all South African models. On the V8-powered GT models, six-piston Brembo front callipers ensure formidable stopping power. The Performance Pack also incorporates a 'K-brace' under the bonnet to secure the suspension strut towers to the bulkhead for improved stability, unique chassis tuning, a larger radiator, upsized sway bar on the Fastback, plus heavy-duty front springs.Weight distribution of 54 per cent at the front for the 5.0-litre V8 and 53 per cent at the front for the 2.3-litre EcoBoost contributes to responsive and precise handling, capable of delivering up to 0.97 g-force when cornering. Using the Selectable Drive Modes, drivers are able to adjust the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control, throttle

response, automatic gear-shift patterns and steering to match Normal, Sport+, Track or Snow/Wet settings. Selectable Effort Electric Power Assisted Steering enables drivers to choose a Normal, Comfort or Sport steering weight and feel.2.3 EcoBoost Man Fastback R699 9002.3 EcoBoost Auto Convertible R719 9002.3 EcoBoost Auto Fastback R779 9005.0 V8 GT Man Fastback R819 9005.0 V8 GT Auto Convertible R839 9005.0 V8 GT Auto Fastback R899 900

Jy kry waarvoor jy betaal. Andre Coetzee

SOUTH AFRICA’s successful half ton bakkie, the NP200, will be receiving some slight enhancements as it enters the holiday season to maintain itself as a competitive product. The interior of the NP200 will receive a more appealing design through the implementation of new materials and equipment such as upholstery, a revised audio system (on specific models) and refreshed controls on the centre console. The NP200 aims to offer more of a luxurious experience with the help of a hard-wearing black textured fabric and vinyl inlay on seat bolsters and sides. The mid and high-grade NP200 will also come equipped with a new audio system that features radio, CD and MP3, USB port, audio jack and Bluetooth functionality. Finishing touches of the controls will be made more premium with black and chrome dials for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to match the passenger and crossover range. It is unlikely that the NP200 will receive any mechanical upgrades but those interested will have the opportunity to purchase one just before the holiday season begins.carmag.co.za

INDIA’s largest automobile manufacturer, Tata, has revealed the first official images of its new B-segment hatch. The Zica is set to replace the Indica after an 18-year production run. The name ‘Zica’ is an acronym of zippy car, which is what the new hatch intends

to be.Like the Bolt the new Zica will be based on the Indica’s platform with a few minor tweaks to make it more modern. Tata suggests that the Zica will come equipped with a new three-cylinder, 1,2-litre petrol and a 1,05-litre diesel engine with a manual gearbox as standard, or an automated manual transmission as an option.Tata have not revealed any specific details of the Zica but it is expected to receive dual front airbags, 2-DIN audio system, a rear wiper with washer and ABS with EBD. Higher end models will receive alloy wheels, front fog lamps, rear parking sensors, turn signals integrated in the side mirrors and a 60:40-split folding rear bench with headrests. The Zica will be produced at the company’s factory in Sanand, India.carmag.co.za

Take a look at some of our front pages throughout the year.

DON’T TRY to decipher the small print - just enjoy the year’s news.

20 August 2015:AN INTERNAL investigation against nine police officials arrested in Lydenburg is underway; they are currently not yet suspended pending the internal probe. The Prov inc ia l Commiss ioner, Lieutenant General (Adv) Mark Magadlela told the community of Mpumalanga that he will never tolerate corruption. He said that all corrupt members must be dealt with by law.The arrest of the nine police officials stationed at the K9 Unit in Lydenburg is a sign that there is no room for corrupt cops within the Police.Eight of these members, Warrant Officer Joseph Mathebula (47), Constables Harry Madihlaba (43), Teddy Ngwana (39), Donald Shakoane (31), Samuel Sikhosana (33), Charles Mtwa (43) and Johannes Ndimande (33), were nabbed together with Sergeant Seepane Dilebo (38) on 11 August 2015.The Hawks pounced on them while they were attending a parade and accused them of corruption. The arrested members have since appeared before the Lydenburg Magistrate's Court on the same day; they are now out on bail of R500 each and will be back in court on 16 September 2015. On their trial date, they are expected to be joined by Constable Elias Mokwana (37), who was arrested the previous week for the same case. The arrest of these cops stems from allegations that they stopped a car and upon searching it found illicit cigarettes and R510 000 cash. They then locked the suspects at the back of the police van and drove them to an industrial area where it alleged that they took an amount of R50 000 from the confiscated money and gave the rest to the owners. However, the owners refused to take the money and reported the matter to the Hawks for further investigation. The Hawks are also expected to explore their investigations beyond this incident as it is alleged that these members are alleged to be part of a syndicate that escorts vehicles transporting illegal cigarettes in Lydenburg and other areas. The Provincial Commissioner said that police should learn that, even though amongst other duties they have to chase and apprehend criminals, if they themselves tap into the criminal world, they will be arrested because no one is above the law.

THE Modikwa Gold team attended the AMMSA(Association of Mine Managers South Africa) Presidents Golf day on

thFriday the 27 of November 2015 at the Krugersdorp Golf Course in Gauteng. This aim of this golf day and other AMMSA golf days are to raise funds for the associations social responsibility program that takes care of people injured in mine accidents and also the families of deceased mine workers due to accidents. At the event the President of the Association Mr. Thediso Mohase thanked all that attended the day and for the contributions they made

towards AMMSA.The team enjoyed the day and had some battle with the Krugersdorp Golf Course as this is quite a technical type of course where course management and planning is needed. The team however did very well for the first time that they played this challenging course and ended up with a score of 58 points. The team would like to thank Modikwa management team for the opportunity to represent the mine at this prestigious golf day. The team had extra pride as our Business Leader Mr. Mthi Mtshengu, who is a board member of AMMSA.
