Big Sky Ranch is located on Nicaragua’s southwest Pacific ‘Emerald’ coast just 15 minutes from San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua’s most popular surf town. The Ranch directly accesses Epic Escamequita beach, and is just minutes to some of the top surf breaks in the world that are located on adjacent beaches to both north and south, like Playa Yankee, Coco, and Hermosa.

A picturesque coastal highway runs from San Juan Del Sur past big Sky Ranch to Costa Rica, whose Guanacaste peninsula is visible across the Pacific ocean only 30 kilometers away. This highway and tourism corridor is under development as the main land tourism route between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, with future plans for a drive-through tourism border crossing.

Three airports provide international access to Big Sky, including Managua international airport (‘MGA’ 2 hours away), Liberia, Costa Rica (‘LIR’ 1.5 hours away) and Emerald Coast International airport (‘ECI’ 1 hour away). Cruise ships dock in San Juan Del Sur, and Helicopter service provides a direct airlink to the Ranch.

Big Sky Ranch is a serene yet convenient distance from some of Nicaragua’s celebrated gathering spots in San Juan Del Sur. We empower our community, our horses, and our riders through top of the line boarding, training, and riding lessons. Big Sky Ranch Equestrian Center is a home for English and Western riders of all levels.

We specialize in natural horsemanship, foal starting, cutting, reining, western pleasure, dressage, and show jumping. Whether on vacation or here to stay, you can blaze your own trail at Big Sky.

We believe in giving back to our community, training horses with excellence, and providing our riders with an unforgettable experience every time in the saddle. The core amenities of our center include stables, arena, round pens, and over 5 miles of trails and courses, including beach access, picnic areas with spectacular views, and a cross-country schooling course.
