    CONNECTION

Being FamilyBy Rev. Chris Shorow, Senior Minister

    This pastSunday wasmarathonSunday

for manymembers ofour staff. Wetry to have

many of our committee meetings afterchurch on specific Sundays so that wemay get them done all at once.So that means one meeting afteranother until at least 7:00, hence theterm marathon Sunday. Greg andMark had meetings too, but after theyouth lock-out and staying up allnight on Saturday night, marathonSunday took on a whole new

meaning for them!Although staff members may have

marathon Sundays, so do some ofour wonderful volunteers. In fact,

as I sat through these meetings, Inoticed that our moderator-elect forthe congregation, Frank Gresh, wasalso at the same meetings. Franksday started at 7:00am as he set up theaudio-visual aspects of our worshipservices in the sanctuary. It continuedall day long until his final meeting at6:30 started. Im sure Frank put inover 12 hours on Sunday. Wow.

The wonderful thing about ourchurch family is just thatfamily. Ourvolunteers dont simply put in theirtime on church projects. They invest

themselves in our church family. They are concerned about every othmember and what is going on in thelives. They consider all of the childre

of the church their children. Afterall, it takes a community to raise ourchildrenand thats what we areacommunity of faith. Gods family.

So here is a big thank you toall of our volunteers who spend lotsof time doing Gods work here atthe church. I also want to thank ourdedicated and wonderful staff whoare willing to spend marathon daysmaking sure Gods work is carriedout. But mostly, here is a big thankyou to our church family for being loving family. Gods family.
