They were quite young. I had anafternoon wedding scheduled and thought I hadplenty of time to get a walk in. Long story short ...we got lost! I tried not to show my nervousnesswhen all of a sudden one of our nephews said,“Uncle Dan, I see a path which I think will take usout of the woods.” And it did! And I made it to thewedding on time!Story number two (Grandpa Dan story): On another occasion I took our then four year oldgrandson to the Kalamazoo Museum. It was myfirst visit. When we walked inside, I said to ourgrandson. “This is my first time here, so we willhave to find our way around.” Our grandson said,“I’ve been here before, so just take my hand and Iwill show you the way!”My point: When we put our trust in God, He willshow us the right path even if we are in unfamiliarterritory.Prayer: Dear Lord, show us the way forward andwe will follow. Daniel E. BURNHAMAGE 92 – PARCHMENT, MI

Daniel passed awayOctober 3, 2013. Hewas born July 26,1921 in Plainwell toDaniel and Bertha(Pogue) Burnham. Hestarted working at avery young age doingvarious jobs. Themoney he earned was

used to help his family through the leandepression years. Dan also worked inmany auto body repair shops in the Kala-mazoo area. When WWII broke out, Danserved his country working at Willow Run,building and designing planes for the wareffort. During that time he met and mar-ried the love of his life, Virginia Belle BaynBurnham on March 20, 1942. Dan andVirginia loved life, each other and familyfor over 72 years. They loved to danceand many times cleared the floor as oth-ers enjoyed the visual skill and poise ofthe couple. The Burnham's had six chil-dren, Daniel and Kathleen Burnham ofPlainwell, Toni and Augustus Otero of Al-buquerque, NM, Pamela and StevenScheick of Portage, Dennis and CindyBurnham of Kalamazoo, Jeff and SueBurnham of Three Rivers and Tim andMary Burnham of Otsego. In 1959 Danand Virginia started their own successfulbusiness in Plainwell, Dan's Auto Bodyand Trim Shop. Dan and his sons workedtogether at the shop for over 50 years.Daniel is survived by his six children andspouses, 34 grandchildren, many greatgrandchildren; two great great grandchil-dren; and nieces and nephews. Preced-ing him in death are his parents; siblings,Marie Staley, Robert Burnham, DaleBurnham, Norma Wiers, DonnaFrankhauser, a grandson Michael JacobBurnham and his beloved wife Virginia onDecember 4, 2011. Funeral services wereheld Wednesday, October 9th, 2013. Pas-tor Raymond Brown officiated. Burial fol-lowed at Riverside Cemetery.
