Lucia) and so on.

5. Another Side of Ibaraki

-In this topic, we introduce landscape, food etc.

of our prefecture Ibaraki as “Another Side of Ibaraki”-

Many Japanese people eat or make cakes using strawberries in special events like someone’s

birthday, Christmas etc. In Ibaraki there are lot of strawberry farmers and the crop yields of

it by prefectures is ranked higher every year (and second place in the Kanto area following

Tochigi Pref.). This fruit has been bred so today more than 150 brands are produced and sold

in the market! Ibaraki also developed an original breeds named “Ibara-kiss”, “Hitachi

Princess” and so on.

*Strawberry Picking

Japanese likes fruit picking. This event is usually taken

place on the farms in Hitachi-Ota City, Kasama City,

Mito City, Ishioka City, Tsukuba City etc. on January

to May. You pay entrance fee and you can eat as mush

as you want until the time limit.

4. Business Trip Report

Hi, I’m Koki Tobita, Hitachinaka Plant. From January 25th to 28th, I was in U.A.E as the study tour of used auto

engines and other parts there. Used cars and used parts imported from Japan are re-exported to other middle

east countries and Africa. The area where people deal with used auto products is called “Industrial Area” so I saw

lots of parts shop in that place. During a day the temperature becomes very high so working time is divided by

two shifts –one is AM10:00 ~ PM1:00, another is PM4:00 ~ PM10:00. What I was impressive is that people were

very friendly because they deal with many used Japanese cars.
