Week 1 PowerPoint Challenge on 1Timothy 1

By: Cassie Hesch

Main Theme: Sinful Nature vs. Being Forgiven

Have you ever done something so

bad that other people involved

never forgave you for doing?

I remember when I was about 5 years old give or take, my little sister and I had gotten our first gold fish. Kori was the one who wanted the stupid fish and who had gotten attached to the stupid thing and had named it and everything, yet Goldie was still my responsibility because I’m the oldest. So my mom told me how to feed Goldie, just a little pinch will due. But when you are that young, you don’t know what a little pitch is so the second day I had to feed the fish, my mom let me do it all on my own. Well a pitch turned into half a handful. And I thought that it would be all good and fine because Goldie was having a field day with all the food I had given it. Well the next morning, I woke up to my little sister in hysterics; yelling, screaming, and crying you know the works. When my mom and I had gotten to see what was going on we couldn’t see anything wrong with Goldie’s tank, except we couldn’t find Goldie and there were a lot of gross pieces flouting around. Then it dawned on my mom… Where’s Goldie. Well those gross chunks ended up being Goldie. Goldie had exploded over night from over eating. You would think that once the stupid thing got full, it would stop eating, no it just kept eating till it exploded. My sister cried for days and refused to forgive me. Even to this day she still hasn’t forgiven me for that, though the fact that I soon after managed to blow up 2 other goldfish probably doesn’t help much either. Thankfully, God is not one to hold a grudge unlike my sister.

John 3:16-2116"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Still not convinced that you can be

forgiven? Because you have done some horrible things? Sex, drugs, alcohol, lying,

stealing, cutting?

Page 6: 1 Timothy 1 - Cassie Hesch

Nothing is to bad for God to forgive. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at

Paul.

1 Timothy 1:12-1612 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

13Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in

ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.  15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners

—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those

who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

Have you asked Jesus to be your savior in the past? Then found your self messing up big time to the point that you begin to think that there is no way God could use you and your life for his plan? Or that there is no way that Jesus will still be able to cancel out your sin?

There is a concept known as “eternal

security” that basically means that once you

are saved you are always saved.

John 10: 28-3028 I give them eternal life, and they

shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My

Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can

snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.
