3

The process UNEP assigned ENOVA (a BiH environmental consultant) and

Umweltbundesamt Austria to support the development of an SoER in BiH

The fist appeal to all possibly evolved institutions was not fruitful

Desk research did not end up with satisfying data

4

The first ‚Round Table‘ Invitation to all involved institutions

(e.g. Ministries from all entities, Agencies, Universities, etc.)

Discussion about a possible approach (how to collect existing data, who will coordinate the collection, how to identify gaps and potentially wrong/misleading data, etc.)

“Catch” the participants (at the end it was an honour for everyone to present their existing data ...)

5

Down-to-earth approach … Reduction of estimations

(an initial pan-BiH SoER can hardly be perfect – and maybe no SoER ever will be perfect?)

Status quo (fix the starting-point / reference value)

Identify the gaps and develop strategies to fill them

Identify the most urgent needs(e.g. land mine, post war challenges for the environmental sector)
