Why we need TGOS?
It is very difficult for end-users to get complete, real time geospatial data from various agencies.
Therefore, Information Center of Ministry of the Interior constructed the NGIS Data Warehouse (also called Taiwan Geospatial One-Stop Portal, or TGOS) in order to::
– Integrate spatial data from different organizations.– Reduce redundancy in data construction and
archives.– Facilitate data sharing and supply of NGIS.
44
Introduction to TGOS
In 2003, the TGOS Portal developed by the Information Center the TGOS Portal developed by the Information Center,, it it is to provide the e-commerce services of processing is to provide the e-commerce services of processing geospatial data supplygeospatial data supply.. Since 2007, with the apprehension of the needs for value-added applications among various organizations, the Information Center have been advocating the web service concept and integrated process technology to expedite the application and development of national geographic information system, with the introduction of SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) for TGOS portal function enhancement; As well as the utilizing of enterprise Web 2.0 structure and standardized service interface for various sources of integrated service elements to build up the distribution of geospatial data and the value-added applications.
55
Introduction to TGOS
In response to the recent expansion of system user interface, information standards and physical operation models as results of information technology and GIS advancement, the Information Center revised and integrated TGOS portal in 2008.It also drafted TWSMP 1.0 metadata standard in June 2007, and developed web version as well as standard-alone version of metadata editing system so as to be compliant with ISO 19139 XML schemas. This system is to be used by geospatial data suppliers for the purpose of upgrading efficiency of metadata editing and importing and to establish sharing environment for NGIS geospatial data distribution.
