— Development-oriented grants: not result-oriented
— Project subsidies for artists: result-oriented, e.g. exhibition, creation of artwork, stage production etc.
— Creation assignments: applied for by giver of assignment

Organisation of quality assessment
Quality assessment under the Arts Act = • recommendations on the operation and management, made
by an agency
• recommendations on quality of content, made by assessment committee of external experts
Recommendations always on basis of criteria in the Act
Decision always taken by Minister of Culture in the Flemish Government

Note regarding application
— Payment is made to the artist himself or to a legal body or de facto association designated by the artist.

Development-oriented grants: contents of the application
— a curriculum vitae
— documentation on the artist’s oeuvre
— critical writings on the oeuvre
— a plan of the work to be done in the period covered by the application

Project subsidies for artists: criteria
— the importance and quality of the artist’s oeuvre in the contemporary art landscape and/or the international context
— the importance and quality of the course the artist has so far followed
— the consistency and growth potential of the oeuvre— the feasibility of the proposed method of finance for the
project— the quality of the possible project partners— the importance of the project to the continued development
of the artist’s oeuvre

Project subsidies for artists: contents of the application
— a curriculum vitae— documentation on the artist’s oeuvre— critical writings on the oeuvre— the working title of the project— the definition of the project— the place and importance of the project in the artist’s oeuvre— a balanced budget— an introduction to the project partners

Payment
— an advance of 90%
— the 10% balance will be paid when:
– it is established that the project has been completed
– the conditions laid down by the Act have been complied with

Contributions to travel, accommodation and transport expensesThe following maximum amounts apply to contributions to travel, accommodation and transport expenses: —2,500 euro for individual artists and experts
—5,000 euro for cultural organisations (- 300,000 euro)
—7,000 euro for cultural organisations that do not receive subsidies covering several years

Small grants: criteria
— The value to the artist’s own development of participation in an activity abroad
— The quality of the activity abroad
— The value of the participation of a foreign guest in an artistic activity in Flanders

— grounds for the application, with a concrete plan — a curriculum vitae— information on the location — a budget
Deadline for applications: at least two months before the start of the activity, unless a good reason is given for an exception
