The first king of Israel
Chosen for his good looks
God looks not at the outward
appearance, but rather at the
thoughts and intents of the heart.
But, God gave the people what they demanded.
He will sometimes give us what we demand
To our own hurt.
4
Saul and his servant are looking for lost donkeys.
They came to Samuel's
hometown to ask for his help.
When you don't know what to do, ask
somebody who can hear from God.
5
11 And as Saul and his
servant went up the hill to
the city, they found young
maidens going out to draw
water, and said unto them, Is
the seer here? 12 And they
answered them, and said, He
is; behold, he is before you:
make haste now, for he came
today to the city; for there is
a sacrifice of the people
today in the high place:
6
Matthew 7 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek,
and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened
unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and
he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it
shall be opened.
This is a very wonderful Promise of God.
Saul and his servant were seeking Kish's donkeys.
They seek the man of God to ask where they are.
7
God put some Jewish maid-
ens in their path to direct
them.
If any person is truly seeking God or God's Truth,
God will see to it that he or
she can find what they seek.

Anyone who sincerely seeks the True and
Living God will find Him.
That person will hear the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
9
A Christian sincerely seeking the Truths of the
Word of God will find what he seeks.
10
No matter how out of
reach it may seem,
God's Plan will be
revealed by His Spirit.
Saul was just a country boy out
looking for his donkeys,
But God's Plan for him to be king, and
a deliverer of Israel was revealed.
11
13 As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall
straightway find him, before he go up to the high
place to eat: for the people will not eat until he
come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and
afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore
get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.
Samuel lived just inside the city gates.
He would soon be leaving to go up on the hill
to bless the meal so the people could eat.
12
14 And they went up into the city: and when they
were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out
against them, for to go up to the high place.
Coincidence?
13
15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day
before Saul came, saying, 16 Tomorrow about this
time I will send thee a man out of the land of Ben-
jamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over
My people Israel, that he may save My people out
of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked up-
on My people, because their cry is come unto Me.
Do you believe that God spoke to Samuel?
Do you believe that God speaks to people today?
The Holy Spirit will lead any of God's
children who will follow.
14
17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said unto
him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this
same shall reign over My people.
The men of Israel had demanded a king,
contrary to the Will of God.
God allowed them to have it their way,
and chose an out of season
king for them.
15
God is even going to use Saul to deliver the
Israelites out of the oppression of the Philistines.
So, are they walking in God's Will?
Are they living God's Way?
According to God's Plan for them?
16
1 Samuel 8 7 And the Lord said unto Samuel,
Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that
they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee,
but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign
over them.
But God still loved them.
17
Perhaps you have done something that you have
thought alienated you from God forever.
You have told yourself (or the devil told you)
"God could never forgive that."
God still loves you.
18
1 John 1 8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from allunrighteousness.
What does all include?
19
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
Does all include murder?
What about abortion?Does all include
cussing?
What about cussing God?
20
Never give up!There are no do-overs, but God will always let
us start over and walk with Him.
Just as the men of Israel had rejected God
from being their king,
And He still loved them.
God will always love us and will never leave us
nor forsake us when we are His children.
