Dolby® PRM-4200 RemoteQuick Start Guide

1 Required Components

The Dolby® PRM‐4200 Remote requires the following components:

• Dolby PRM‐4200 Professional Reference Monitor with PRM‐4200 system software version 4.2.0.0 or later installed

To get the latest version of the PRM‐4200 system software, do one of the following:

• Send an email to Dolby Video Support at [email protected].

• Call Dolby Customer Service at 1‐415‐645‐4903.

• Contact your local Dolby representative.

• Apple® iPad® 2 or 3 running iOS 5 or later, with the PRM‐4200 Remote app installed

The PRM‐4200 Remote app is available from the Apple App Store.

• Wireless network router that enables connectivity between the iPad and the PRM‐4200 monitor

We recommend using a router that is compatible with Mac® computers, such as the Netgear® N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. The PRM‐4200 Remote uses an auto discovery technology that is supported by these routers. If your router does not support auto discovery, you will probably need to enter the monitor IP address in the PRM‐4200 Remote app Select Monitor screen. (For instructions, see Step 2 in Connect the PRM‐4200 Remote to the PRM‐4200 Monitor.)

• Standard Ethernet network cable to connect the wireless router to the PRM‐4200 monitor

2 Set Up the PRM-4200 Network

To set up the PRM‐4200 network, perform these steps:

1. Turn on the wireless router.

2. Write down the SSID (network name), network security key, network pass phrase, and any other configuration settings. You will need this information later when you connect the iPad to the wireless router.

Note: If your wireless router does not work out of the box, you will have to configure it before you set up the PRM‐4200 network. For configuration instructions, refer to the documentation for the wireless router.

Connect the iPad to the Wireless Router

3. Turn on the PRM‐4200 monitor, and wait for the PRM‐4200 hardware remote to connect.

4. Using the standard Ethernet network cable, connect the Ethernet port on the back of the PRM‐4200 monitor (the second Ethernet port from the left) to one of the numbered ports on the wireless router, as shown in the following figure. Be sure to use a wired (LAN) port. Do not use the colored network port. (This port could also have a label, such as Internet, Uplink, or Internet/WAN, as in the following figure.)

5. On the PRM‐4200 hardware remote, go to System > Utilities, and then select IP Configuration.

6. If Auto (DHCP) is selected, deselect it, and then wait 30 seconds before performing the next step.

7. Select Auto (DHCP).

In approximately five to ten seconds, a valid IP address appears on the screen. Write down this IP address. It is the address for the PRM‐4200 monitor.

3 Connect the iPad to the Wireless Router

To connect the iPad to the wireless router, perform these steps:

1. From the Home Screen on the iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Turn on Wi-Fi, and then turn on Ask to Join Networks.

2. On the Choose a Network list, tap the network name (SSID) of the wireless router. This is the SSID that you wrote down when you set up the PRM‐4200 network. (See Step 2 in Set Up the PRM‐4200 Network.)

3. If the iPad requests a password, enter the pass phrase that you wrote down when you set up the PRM‐4200 network. (See Step 2 in Set Up the PRM‐4200 Network.)
