And I made the switch to being the Assistant Managing Editor of the newspaper, as the second in command of the newsroom. I manifested a job as marketing and communications director for a couple that owned three multi-million dollar companies as my escape from journalism. Lesson Two: The Little Girl Who Roared Like A Lion!

Hello My Friend, It’s good to be back with you today for our second get together as part of our “Rediscover Think and Grow Rich E-course”! I hope you’re doing well and that you’re ready to start getting into the heart of our material! A few days ago I asked you to get real clear about how important is it that you become rich, and also to become aware of how this motivation plays out in your daily life and all the ways this affects you. Did you learn some things about yourself and perhaps commit yourself more fully to fulfilling your desire to Think and therefore Grow Rich? <<If you haven’t thought about those things thoroughly, then take a few minutes now and do so. And I’d also like you to in fact state this commitment to yourself, in your own words before we continue, if you haven’t yet done that.>> That question is a good tie-in to what we’re going to be talking about today. One of the first principles that will allow us to “Think and Grow Rich” is the power of a burning desire. Napoleon Hill shares the story of a little girl whose poor mother told her to go up to the plantation owner and get 50 cents from him. At first he said “no” and told the girl to get lost. She refused to leave, until he gave her the 50 cents. And when he threatened to physically harm her, she even stepped toward him, unwavering in her demand for the small sum she needed.




The power of her determination broke the man’s will and he gave her the money she needed. It’s powerful the way she does this and we discuss this in depth in “Rediscover ‘Think and Grow Rich’”, yet what can we take here from this story that will make us richer? => When you know exactly what you want, you tap into the invisible forces that have created worlds; the universe steps in to arrange for your burning desire to be yours. => There is no power greater, so even someone as seemingly ‘powerless’ as a little black girl long before civil rights can overpower the wealthy baron who previously probably always got HIS way. => She *knew* she would have her way—there was no other possibility. Napoleon Hill refers to this as “burning all bridges”, where you have no back-up plan and put all your focus, intention, inspired actions and faith behind that one desire. => It makes no difference what others think, or whether they agree with you or even approve of what you desire. If you hold to it with the strength and unwavering spirit of this child, you will manifest it, in spite of any and all obstacles you face! At this point, it’s your turn, my friend. Give me an assessment of how strong your burning desire is, from 1 to 10, with 10 being the strongest. Of course that question presumes you know exactly what your burning desire is. If not, then take the time to get very specific about that before we continue. Think for a few minutes how great it will be when you’ve fulfilled this desire. Put yourself in this experience and allow it to become rich in detail, and empower it through how great it feels enjoying it completely. What are you seeing? Notice everything around you, vividly. Listen to all the sounds around you. Take in all aspects of




everything you hear, too. How do you feel? In your heart. How does it feel to the touch? What is the smell in the air, and the taste in your mouth; the hunger of your desire? And you know 100 percent with absolute certainty that it’s yours. Then, by law, it will be! Lesson Three: The Little Girl Strikes Back!

Hello My Friend, This lesson is not “Coming Soon to a Theater Near You” as the title may imply. In fact, it really struck me (no pun intended, really ☺) after I wrote Lesson Two, just how interconnected we all are, and how important it is that we talk about how the actions we take influence and effect several others. In this case, as we’ll learn about in our next message, “Three Feet From Gold”, the story of “The Little Girl Who Roared Like A Lion” had a significant effect on a close relative of the “defeated baron”. His young nephew… (As a quick aside, I wanted to verify the uncle was not a cousin, and so I opened my First Edition copy of “Think and Grow Rich” and just happened to turn exactly to the right page!) … who thought the little girl was going to get whipped, beaten or even killed by the man known for his temper… Ended up learning invaluable insights into the human spirit and psyche as a result of witnessing “The Little Girl” taming the savage beast and leaving him bewildered, as well as from the experience we’ll talk about next, “Three Feet From Gold”. And R.U. Darby took what he learned from both lessons and became one of less than 50 people in the U.S. to sell more than $1 million in insurance year after year. At least no “societal” power, and yet the “soul power” or power of her spirit, electrified through the power of her Burning Desire, that allowed her to conquer The King! So let’s take a few moments and think about how many families essentially this Little Girl must have saved! For him to be among the Top 50 insurance salesmen in the country, he must have sold a lot of policies, and I have no idea how many, yet let’s say tens of thousands. And those would be tens of thousands of families, who very likely at some point needed to rely on those policies in their time of need, to get by. Let’s do a quick estimate to show you how powerful one experience from one little girl probably was: If we just guess Mr. Darby sold 10,000 policies to 10,000 families, and each family had 4 people in it, that’s 40,000 lives right there! Yet we also know that for example if the head of the household died, (or when), that would have financial and other consequences on not only the children, yet possibly also the grandchildren and the family of the children’s spouses, too. [This relates to what we talked about before how all of us know at least 250 people, which is why I’m encouraging you to forward this e-book to everyone you know who would find it of value, to be in your mastermind, on the one hand, to form a study group of meaningful minds to help you further your Burning Desire, and also to allow my work to touch hundreds of other lives, through your circle of influences—because that helps me get far closer to my life purpose, and destiny, to help 150 million people become very wealthy!] And the colleagues, employers and friends of the people who died, who might otherwise need to come together and help support the families of the people whom Darby sold so many policies to. touching probably literally 100,000 lives, directly. Yet, with Napoleon Hill writing about it, just by sharing the story he learned from knowing Mr. Darby… Well, “Think and Grow Rich” sold 150 million copies, and Everyone who read it doesn’t live in a vacuum, they have families and friends and businesses who also may have benefited from the lesson, really, The Gift from The Little Girl. And, now, I’m dedicating my life to my purpose and vision of taking everything Napoleon Hill has to share with the world and using it to help 150 million people become very wealthy… Is that incredible, my friend? One seemingly trite or insignificant interaction between a young girl and the operator of the large farm where her mom worked ended up improving the lives of what I say will be several hundred million people, or more!!!! Notice one key thing about this, though. That interaction probably would have been insignificant in the larger scope of things, if Mr. Darby had not seen it and been puzzled about how the girl conquered her uncle. It was only because he was a man of action, and felt his own Burning Desire to understand the situation, that this story became meaningful for you and me and so many other people, their families, their businesses, etc. Keep that in mind, because you, my friend, have the power to turn the events of your life into those kinds of Life Lessons that make the difference to you and potentially to a half billion people! It takes the right set of trained eyes, open and present-moment attuned ears, and mindset of “I’m going to learn from everything” to find the meaning and personally profit from the events that seem small and meaning-less to the untrained and uninspired (and poor) masses. Now that you have a clear idea of how one event can make all the difference in the world to someone actively looking for ways of improving his or her life, or at least open to learning from every experience, let me ask you a few questions, and I’d like you to give these a few minutes to contemplate. 1. Think back over your life and come up with three of your own “Defining Moments”. What are the main events that shaped who you are, your beliefs about what’s possible for you, your self-image, your outlook toward the world, toward other people? 2. Look back to Mr. Darby and the Little Girl. He, and as we’ve seen, a half billion people benefited from the way he interpreted and learned from this experience. The way you internalized each of your defining moments was largely influenced by the way you were raised, the things you learned or believed were true and most likely the beliefs of your parents, teachers and other role models you had. Although we go over this extensively in “Rediscover Think and Grow Rich” at http://www.MasterThinkandGrowRich.com, which as you can tell would be well-worth applying to your life, as well, I’d like you now to consider that the “you” at that time is far different from who you are today, and that you almost certainly had a far more limited and less accurate view of the world and your place within it at that time of your defining moments. Please take the time to go back to those situations, through your more advanced and empowered awareness, through your better trained eyes and ears and perceptiveness, through the

you that you are today. And just take a look at whether you had been holding onto those moments in an accurate way, or was there something far deeper going on there that you probably missed before, through your less aware and perceptive self? As we now, just by being aware of these things, we’re able to re-define what they meant to us, the stories we tell ourselves about them, and that, my friend, can be the most powerful process you’ll ever go through! And it can free you of all the baggage and blocks and “stuff” that literally could have prevented you previously from becoming very wealthy!!! (That’s why I urge you to give this your full consideration and attention, right now, because it can transform your life!) 3. It’s also important to acknowledge ourselves and the ways in which our lives have made a significant difference to others. So please also review your life and this time focus on the events where something you did touched others meaningfully, because the truth is, we’re all the Little Girl or Little Boy for other people, and that’s, in fact, the role we’re meant to play in this totally interconnected world! For example, I acknowledge that my role is to be the Little Boy who causes a similar Defining Moment for you, which allows you to connect more deeply with your inner-greatness and fulfill your life purpose, enabling you to become very wealthy!!!! I bet there are times when you served as the Little Girl or Little Boy to others, and may have had no idea how much what you said or did made a difference to them, and yet I believe on some level you were aware of that, and that’s the level I’d like you to get in touch with here. Think about it a while, because I’m sure there are several examples you can come up with, and these will inspire you to do more, to make an even greater difference to others. For example, it always inspires me to do more good when I know how I’ve made a difference to someone. It’s uplifting and encouraging and causes me to go deeper, to reflect more, on how I can serve you better and more meaningfully. You’re the same way, I’m sure, so get three or four solid examples of when you’ve made a significant difference to others, and having that fresh in your mind—you’ll be amazed at how much that motivates you to go out there and help even more people. And that, my friend, is how you will become very wealthy! Actually, let’s talk about that a minute, too, because that’s another important part of the Gift from the Little Girl.




Mr. Darby observed the interaction between the Little Girl and his uncle, and used what he learned to make a fortune for himself—by touching the lives of the people he served. As you’re going to learn, over and over again through our course, all of the most successful people became very wealthy by serving others. That’s just a Universal Truth—it’s the way our lives were set up. That old quote, “help enough people get what they want, and you’ll have everything you want” is so true. So let me ask you this fourth and final question:

How can you make more of a difference to others, whether they’re your customers and clients, your friends, your family, your co-workers, people you empathize with, the environment, people who have less than you, people who have more than you, or the world at large. What can you do to fulfill your potential, to leave the world a better place, and to touch as many hearts as you can? That’s powerful stuff to think about, you know? And by doing so, it makes you feel great and on top of the world! And, right now, that’s how I feel, because I know that through our time together, I am fulfilling my purpose and allowing my destiny to unfold, and that feels tremendous!
