Council owns / manages 20 pools through commercial leasing arrangements with established specialist operators.

Key messages

There will be a need for ongoing spending to maintain the pools portfolio.20 pools - 19 leased. Pool H managed by BCC. QG - owns Pool C, managed by BCC.Pool infra - Pools, lights, P&E, buildings, car parks.New/refurbished - Pool F, Pool L, Pool P, Pool M.Contracts - Seek value-add through operator proposals and monitor/enforce all contracts.Electricity - Replacing gas for pool heating.Long term - Pool E, Pool C unclear. Core spend only.Leaks - Pool B, Pool E and Pool K have water leaks that will require addressing.Fibre and duct - Nil connections as far as we are aware. 19 pools are leased out.

Priority Spend (in order from 11/12 to 15/16 above)1. Pool E - Planning to commence April 2012. $5m planned, assuming $2.5m received via grants.2. Pool B - Old pool, flood affected. Opened, needs additional work. Residence not being replaced.3. Pool K - Plant room in poor condition.4. Pool N - Structures, pool and P&E will need upgrading over the next few years.5. Pool E - Needs upgrade, but future is uncertain at current location.
