3
Why?
• Obsolete components of old system (1988)• Operate with 132 ns and 396 ns bunch spacing at
L=2x1032
• Improved sampling and filtering to more precise measurement of Et on trigger towers, better threshold and better background rejection
• Additional rejection from cal-track matching• Able to do clustering, finding objects (electron, jets,
taus, etc): Used to be done at L2 for RunIIa• More compact system, easy maintenance

New Tool-Coming Soon
should always be running without any human intervention as long as one of several online host is available. -> checks the full digital chain of the L1Cal: -> parity, sync and BC errors for digital transmission in ADF->TAB->GAB -> parity of TAB/GAB -> L2/L3 data -> BC synchronization between ADF/TAB/GAB and VRBs. -> Bitwise agreement of simulated and/or terms from measured raw TTs.

New Tool-Cont.
This requires some judgment from the shifter. If it's the start of a new store or new run, or between stores and the L1Cal is out of the crate, then it might be stalled for up to a few minutes.
