Introduction• Motivations and Aims of the project
– Provide an appropriate solution of earthquake risk evaluation to developing countries
– Support International Rescue Team of Japanese Fire-Service (IRT-JF) when operating in earthquake-stricken countries
• Project activities– Earthquake damage estimation– Satellite communications experiments
• International cooperation– Earthquake preparedness – Data distribution– Satellite communications experiments
•The Swiss rescue team operated at Kobe earthquake in Japan (1995 ).
•The IRT-JF operating in the Kingdom of Thailand (2004)

Conclusion
• This project aims to develop a low cost method for earthquake damage estimation which is suitable for developing countries
• WINDS is used for testing and verifying utilizations of broadband satellite communications in supporting rescue activities of IRT-JF teams
• Cooperation with NECTEC in WINDS’s experiments• We expect to bring collaboration opportunities to Asian
countries in emergency preparedness and disaster mitigation in case of future earthquakes
