3. Spend time learning the teachings of Scripture.

James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Realize that God’s way is the best way!

4. Live according to the teachings of Scripture.

Ephesians 4:13-15 God wants us to “attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children . . . but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him.”

5. Commit to growing spiritually.

JESUS did it – John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”

PAUL did it – Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

In Matthew 26:39, Jesus prayed to His Father about the pain and horror of what was about to happen to Him. “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me.” But then He prayed, “Yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt.”
