Nguyen (nōō yen) is the main character’s family name. Her given name (first name) is Hoa (hwä), which means “flower”. Ut (ōōt) is her nickname★ meaning youngest daughter. Quang (kwäng) is her younger brother and her older sister is Chi Hai (chē hī). Vietnamese people value family, therefore they put their family name (last name) before their given name.
