DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE We received information from the Illinois Film Office indicating that an independent filmmaker will be producing a film tentatively entitled, “Drunkboat” in Morton Grove. Some of the featured actors in the film are reported to be John Malkovich and John Goodman. Production started in May & will continue in June. Here’s a quick synopsis: A single parent mother is raising two teenage sons and an uncle comes to live with them (John Malkovich). The teens have an ambition to buy and sail a boat which they purchase by having the uncle sign the sales documents. The boat is delivered and in general, it is not sea worthy or operational from any standpoint. The story continues with the adventures of these teens and their live-in uncle. The film office has called us looking for several types of businesses that are members of the Chamber. I thought this was a great way to show that you never know who will need your products or services. The Chamber of Commerce really is the “Go To Place” for many people that come into Morton Grove or live here. Please remember that we are striving for great quality, great service and a true sense of integrity throughout our community and membership. I hope you all enjoy the additional buzz that this film is bringing to our community. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get to meet some of the cast and crew from this film at our 27th Annual Golf Outing or even Morton Grove Days. Who doesn’t like a carnival, especially with the World’s largest sausage and bratwurst contest? I’m looking forward to seeing our wonderful city come alive to celebrate our Day of Independence. Keep a look out for the “Morton Grove Chamber Shopping Carts” at the 4th of July Parade. We want everyone to know that it is very important for the viability of the city to “Shop” Morton Grove Chamber Members First. I’ll be out and about, I hope you will too!
