• 1st Every action done in Company, ought to be with some Sign of Respect, to those that are Present.

1. When you are with a group of people your actions should be appropriate for those individuals.

• 2nd When in Company, put not your Hands to any Part of the Body, not usualy discovered.

2. When in public, be mindful of where you put

your hands.

• 3rd Show Nothing to your Friend that may affright him.

3. Do not show shocking things to your friends that will frighten them.

• 4th In the Presence of Others Sing not to yourself with a humming Noise, nor Drum with your Fingers or Feet.

4. In public do not hum or whistle nor rap on things, tap your feet, fidget and squirm or

repeatedly shift your weight from side to side.

• 5th If You Cough, Sneeze, Sigh, or Yawn, do it not Loud but Privately; and Speak not in your Yawning, but put your handkerchief or Hand before your face and turn aside.

5. Do not cough, sneeze, sigh or yawn without covering your mouth and turning your head to the

side, and doing so as quietly as possible.

• 6th Sleep not when others Speak, sit not when others stand, Speak not when you Should hold your Peace, walk not on when others Stop.

6. Do not sleep while others are speaking, nor sit while others are standing, nor walk on while others

are stopping.

• 7th Put not off your Cloths in the presence of Others, nor go out your Chamber half Drest.

7. Do not undress in the presence of others, nor

go out of the house half dressed.

• 8th At play and at Fire its Good manners to Give Place to the last Commer, and affect not to Speak Louder than Ordinary.

8. When participating in group activities, let the last to arrive have a chance to take part without making them feel conspicuous that they are late.

• 9th Spit not in the Fire, nor Stoop low before it neither Put your Hands into the Flames to warm them, nor Set your Feet upon the Fire especially if there be meat before it.

9. In public, do not spit into the fireplace; nor squat down in front of the fire; nor get too closely to the flames in order to warm your hands;

nor put your feet upon the fire place, especially if food is cooking.

• 10th When you Sit down, Keep your Feet firm and Even, without putting one on the other or Crossing them.

10. When sitting, keep your feet firmly on the ground without putting one foot on the other foot or without crossing them incorrectly.
