DEAN MAKES FIRST OF STAFF APPOINTMENTS
Also names interim law and finance directors
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Mayor-elect Karl Dean announced the first of his staffappointments today and also named interim directors for two of the top roles in his
administration. The interim law and finance directors will serve until those positions are
permanently filled.
I am fully prepared to take office tomorrow, Dean said. Metro Government will
continue to operate smoothly while appointments are being made in my administration.
Several of Mayor Purcells staff, whom I worked with when I was law director, haveagreed to stay on during the interim.
While this is the shortest transition period between administrations in Metro history, I donot feel rushed to make decisions about who will help me lead this city. The Transition
Team is diligently working to help me find the right people for my administration. I am
moving deliberately in making those decisions.

mayor. Hester was the senior advisor for Harold Ford Jr. to the Tennessee Coordinated

Tennessee Democratic Party. He also spent several years working on Music Row in
