Lesson 8

Page 2: 08 Born Of Woman Sef Eng

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only [Son], who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:1, 14

“The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact

representation of his being, sustaining all things by his

powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the

Majesty in heaven”Hebrews 1:3

“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage”

Philippians 2:6

A human woman, Mary, conceived Him, and He was born like any child.

“She [Mary] was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit… an angel of the Lord appeared to him [Joseph] and said… «what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus»”

Matthew 1:18-21

“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law”

Galatians 4:4

He grew and learnt like any child.

“And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him” Luke 2:40

“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered”

Hebrews 5:8

He felt tired; He was hungry and thirsty like any person.

“Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon”

John 4:6

“Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty."”John 19:28

“Was the human nature of the Son of Mary changed into the divine nature of the Son of God? No, the two natures were mysteriously blended in one person--the Man Christ Jesus. In Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. When Christ was crucified, it was His human nature that died. Deity did not sink and die; that would have been impossible. Christ, the Sinless One, will save every son and daughter of Adam who accepts the salvation proffered them, consenting to become the children of God. The Saviour has purchased the fallen race with His own blood. This is a great mystery, a mystery that will not be fully, completely understood in its greatness until the translation of the redeemed shall take place”.Ellen G. White, Upward Look, September 3

“This is my Son, whom I

love; with him I am well pleased”

The whole deity took part in our salvation, when Jesus started His ministry.

He was tempted in a sin-free environment.

There was plenty of food.

He wasn’t fasting.

He gave away when was tempted to satisfy his appetite against God’s will.

When he was tempted, he mistrusted the Word of God.

He got away from God and joined Satan’s government.

He was tempted in an environment under the influence of evil powers.

He had no food in the wilderness.

He was fasting.

He didn’t give away when he was tempted to satisfy his appetite against God’s will.

When He was tempted, he rejected the temptation.

Satan offered him the kingdoms of the world, but He stayed loyal to the Father.

“Christ began the work of redemption just where the ruin began. His first test was on the same point where Adam failed. It was through temptations addressed to the appetite that Satan had overcome a large proportion of the human race, and his success had made him feel that the control of this fallen planet was in his hands. But in Christ he found one who was able to resist him, and he left the field of battle a conquered foe. Jesus says, "He hath nothing in Me." His victory is an assurance that we too may come off victors in our conflicts with the enemy”.

Ellen G. White, Counsels on Diet and Food, Chapter 8, p. 240

Jesus started to break the power of death in his worldly ministry, showing how we can reach

communion with God and with our fellow men, here and in New Creation.

“He [Jesus] came to our world on a mission from the Father. He came to bridge the gulf that sin had made between God and man. There was to be made a provision for a reconciliation, for a union of the human with the divine nature. Christ would sanctify all who believe in Him. In the gift of Christ to our world, God has provided for everyone a power to overcome evil”.Ellen G. White, Upward Look, May 15
