• A survey of the BAT-Institute (Institute for Recreational Research) states, that tourism and recreation will be the motor for economic development in the 21th century.

• Tourism is a significant economic factor: - Around 10 million overnight stays- 350 Million Euro turnover per year- 15.000 full time jobs

• About 27 million day trippers85 % of visitors come by car

• 55.000 (70 % motorized) officiallyregistered boats. Buoy fields, harbors, jetties, parking lots and buildings

• 30 km shoreline are used by beaches, camping sites etc.(figures for German lake region)
