While watching a romedy movie with my ‘Valentine by Cord’, I was suddenly struck with a barrage of questions by him. He was bemused by how human relations worked in earlier times.

Not that I belong to an ancient world, yet to my Millennial Man, human connect is unthinkable without the digital edge. To him, ‘people must be able to think, feel and express on the go’! He was intrigued that in an era with no mobiles and emoticons, “how could people manage to express with no immediate gratification in sight”?

I was all smiles remembering our pre-digital era. Life was so much better and full of excitement. We used to look forward and find time to meet up with friends and loved ones. Human interactions were natural and much deeper. We understood each other!

Unfortunately, my ‘Valentine by Cord’ – my son – lives and sleeps with his digital partner (his cell phone). That is his world and his true companion. He wakes up with it, smiles with and gets hassled by it. An hour of living with a dead battery upsets his day. I think he has fallen for the ‘Digital’!

Sometimes, even I get carried away with my digital involvement. Yet most of the days; I still look forward to the evenings well spent together with family & friends and waking up not to the beep of Facebook and Twitter updates but to the noise of my loved ones!

Our Chairman, Dr. Lalit Kanodia, received this award from Bhisma Narain Singh, former Union Cabinet Minister and Governor, at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi.

The National Awards For IT Excellence recognize the most talented leaders in the field of Information Technology for their superlative achievements and extraordinary work.

RAHUL KANODIA GRACES CONVOCATION AS CHIEF GUESTOur CEO was invited as the chief guest at the maiden convocation ceremony of N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research on 7th February.

Along with presenting degrees to the graduating students, Rahul also addressed the gathering with words of inspiration and encouragement. He provided insights into the current industry trends as well as into the characteristics of a future leader.

WELCOME ABOARD

Monideep Chatterjee joined Lumina Datamatics as Vice President– Head of Sales (E-Retail), USA. He will be spearheading the US e-Retail sales & business development initiatives. Monideep has a rich experience spanning 13 years in Sales and Marketing roles and proven operational experience in the retail and eCommerce spaces in the outsourcing industry. In his last stint at HCL Technologies, he led specialty retail, eCommerce and multichannel sales in the US.

Anna Sullivan joined Lumina Datamatics as Director - Business Development (STM and Professional Publishing). Anna has been a part of the industry for around 20 years and has worked with names such as Cadmus (Cenveo) and Impelsys in the past. She has strong expertise of dealing with the challenges that publishers face when migrating from a print to a digital centric approach.

Gail Chaplick joined Lumina Datamatics as Director of Publishing Solutions, (Trade Publishing). Gail comes with over 15 years of experience in the publishing industry. Her strengths include a strong knowledge of Copyright Laws and she also has a rich experience in sales and relationship management.

DIGITAL LITERACY @ DATAMATICS To support our Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Digital India’, along with NASSCOM Foundation, we organized Digital Literacy @ Datamatics workshop from 23rd to 25th of February.

During this Phase 1 - 3 day workshop, 35 participants (security guards, housekeeping and other contract staff at Datamatics) were taught about computers, emails, social networking, eCommerce and eGovernance.

NASSCOM Foundation members also paid a visit to our premises to acknowledge Datamatics’ efforts.

At the end of this program, participants will receive a certificate from Government of India after clearing an online exam.
