1.1 Team 1: Interface Specific TC Measurement

Check, if the MGW Interface Specific TC measurement is alreadyrunning. How can you do that?

Solution

If the measurement is not running yet, activate it.

Solution

What is the name for the NetAct measurement table used for MGWInterface Specific TC measurement? (Tip: Check NED for NetAct ->Database Description for MGW Measurement -> Raw MeasurementTables)

Solution

Which is the measured object for the MGW Interface Specific TC measurement? (Tip: Check NED for MGW -> Reference -> MGWPerformance Counters-> Unit load measurement: check the rowOBJECT in the Counter tables).

Solution

Start an xterminal from NetAct Start Page (usually under Category ->

Desktop).If not available from NetAct start page, you can also start it e.g. fromTLUI -> User -> X11clients -> xterm.

(Alternatively, you can also open secure shell or another tool to open ansql-session. Please ask the trainer for instruction).

In case, you open an xterminal from TLUI, type xterm –sb –sl 5000.What is the meaning of those parameters –sb and –sl? Tip: To display

the meaning of the parameters of the UNIX-command ‘xterm’, typexterm –help).

Solution

Open an SQL-session with the command sqlplus (username andpassword is provided by the trainer).

Output all MSC PM views with the following command: selectview_name from all_views where view_name like ‘NOKMWW_PV%’;

(Tip! You cannot correct a typing error in the sql-window. In order toavoid this, you can write the commands into a word pad and copy andpaste it to the sql-window, when they are correct.)

How is the view name for MGW Interface Specific TC measurement ondaily level? Write down the name of the table.

Solution

How can you get a more detailed description of this table using SQL?

Solution

Display the values of counter DISC_CELLS of the MGW InterfaceSpecific TC measurement view with select DISC_CELLS from<view_name>;

Do you get measurement values?

Solution

Note! You can also select several columns of the measurement table inone command, if you separate them by comma, e.g. select<column_name_1>, <column_name_2>, ..., <column_name_x>from <table_name>;

Which is the object class id of the MGW? Hint: Use NED and/or useSQL to find out the object class id using the following command: selectoc_id, oc_abbreviation from utp_object_class order byoc_abbreviation;

Solution1

Solution2

Interrogate all MGW int_ids from the objects table, with select int_idfrom objects where object_class=x.

x is a placeholder. Please replace x by the correct object class id.

Solution

Note! You can also select more columns than just the int_id informationof the objects-table with an SQL-statement, separating these columns bya comma, for example Select name, int_id from objects whereobject_class = 757;

Interrogate the same counter as above for a specific MGW. Use one ofthe int_ids, you have received with the last SQL-command. Do you getmeasurement values?

Solution

1.1.1 Check if measurement results are available with KPI Browser(Team1)

Open the KPI Browser and select the same measurement andcounter you have investigated above. Click on QUERY and see, if

measurement results are shown. What do you expect?

Note! You can also select several columns of the measurement table inone command, if you separate them by comma, e.g. select<column_name_1>, <column_name_2>, ..., <column_name_x>from <table_name>;

Which is the object class id of your measured object? Hint: Use NEDand/or use SQL to find out the object class id using the followingcommand: select oc_id, oc_abbreviation from utp_object_classorder by oc_abbreviation;

Solution1

Solution2

Interrogate all MSC int_ids from the objects table, with select int_idfrom objects where object_class=x.

x is a placeholder. Please replace x by the correct object class id.

Solution

Note! You can also select more columns than just the int_id informationof the objects-table with an SQL-statement, separating these columns bya comma, for example Select name, int_id from objects whereobject_class = 107;

Interrogate the same counter as above for a specific MSC. Use one ofthe int_ids, you have received with the last SQL-command. Do you getmeasurement values?

Solution

2.1.1 Check if measurement results are available with KPI Browser (Team1)

Open the KPI Browser and select the same measurement and counteryou have investigated above. Click on QUERY and see, if measurementresults are shown. What do you expect?

Solution

Click on Show SQL to open the Report Description for that KPI. Namethe ORACLE raw table from which the KPI report is generated.

What is the name for the NetAct measurement table used for MSC CellMeasurement? (Tip: Check NED for NetAct -> Database Descriptionfor 2G/3G Circuit Switched Core Measurement: Raw Tables -> RawMeasurement Tables- > Traffic measurements)

Solution

Start an xterminal from NetAct Start Page (usually under Category ->Desktop).

If not available from NetAct start page, you can also start it e.g. fromTLUI -> User -> X11clients -> xterm.

In case, you open an xterminal from TLUI, type xterm –sb –sl 5000.What is the meaning of those parameters –sb and –sl? Tip: To displaythe meaning of the parameters of the UNIX-command ‘xterm’, typexterm –help).

Solution

Open an SQL-session with the command sqlplus (username andpassword is provided by the trainer).

Output all MSC PM views with the following command: selectview_name from all_views where view_name like ‘RNS_PV%’;

(Tip! You cannot correct a typing error in the sql-window. In order toavoid this, you can write the commands into a word pad and copy andpaste it to the sql-window, when they are correct.)
