03.01.19 “There is nothing permanent except change.” - Heraclitus Dear AHS Parents, The picture above is of a special issue of the Forest Hills Journal from 1964, which is currently resting on my desk. The entire issue documents and celebrates the dedication of the new additions to Anderson High School that year. Although the pictures, articles, and advertisements are really cool to review (some of which may be found in August on our NEW AHS Timeline in the Senior Lobby!), the coolest thing was that it dawned on me this week on Wednesday morning (February 27th), that the issue was released on the same day, 55 years earlier on February 27th, 1964. How bizarre!! It just so happened that we had planned to pull our Senior Class down to Titus Auditorium this week on Wednesday for a “not-so-mid-year” meeting. Among the many topics we discussed, the first was leadership. We thanked the class as a whole for the leadership they have shown this year around Anderson High School. We also pointed out the fact that the Class of 2019 is a class that will graduate after having been students during a very historic time in the life of Anderson High School in regards to construction. These students have been incredible through it all and, though they’ll miss the completion of the building this summer, they are encouraged to come back soon as alumni to see the future enhancements. This newspaper is a reminder to me of how proud I am of our history within Forest Hills and how eager I am to continue elevating the “bar of excellence” as we continue on into the future!! Indeed, the future is BRIGHT!! Have a GREAT weekend! Rob P.S. GOOD LUCK to our AHS Robotics Team this weekend as they compete at the State Vex Competition in Columbus!! MOMENTS OF THE WEEK:
