Installation

The installation program starts automatically when you insert the product DVD.If you have switched off this function on your computer, please do the following in order to install the program:

1. Insert the product DVD in the DVD drive.2. Open the root directory of this drive.3. Start the installation by double-clicking

the file Setup.exe.

The setup program guides you through the complete installation. You may be asked to restart your computer following the installation.

Please adhere to the notes on installation and use in the Installation Notes and in the Release Notes:k Installation Notes: After start of setup,

click on the button “Yes, I would like to read the notes.” in the “Product Notice” dialog.

k Release Notes: In the setup dialog “Programs,” click on the “Readme” button displayed for the selected product.

You can also find these documents as PDF files on the product DVD in the directory “Install_and_Release-Notes“.

Start the software by using the link on the Desktop or from the Windows Start menu:

- “SIMATIC > WinCC“ (Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008)

- “Programs > Siemens Automation > SIMATIC > WinCC“

Note

The trial version does not have to be dein-stalled after the period of use has expired as was the case until now because the trial ver-sion can automatically be converted to a full version if a full licence is purchased.

The demo version may only be installed on a PC on which no other WinCC version isinstalled. In particular, this version must not be used to upgrade an older WinCC version.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITYFOR DEMO-SOFTWARE

The use of the Demo Software (Trial Version)on this DVD is not released for productive use, including, but not limited to programming, testing, and commissioning. You shall be granted the non-exclusive and nontransferable right to install the software on one (1) hardware device and to use it for testing and evaluation purposes. The period of usage is limited to 30 days – beginning with the installation of the software, unless a different period of usage is specified in the enclosed files.The software is provided as is. Any liability or warranty on our part, regardless of its legal basis, especially due to noncompliance with this warning notice, or resulting from software defects or consulting services, shall be excluded. This shall not apply in case of legally binding liability; such as compliance with the product liability act, in cases of willful, gross negligence, of injuries to life, body, or health, resulting from assumption of a performance guarantee, willful nondisclosure of any defect, or due to violation of essential contractual obligations. Any claims for restitution of damages and expenditures due to violation of essential contractual obligations shall be limited to

damages typical and foreseeable for this type of contract, unless liability is caused by willful, gross negligence or injuries to life, body, or health. This shall not constitute any reversal in the burden of proof to your disadvantage.
