    In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful1. Ta. Seen. Mim.

    $ 2. These are revelations of the manifest Book. y7 = ? Mt# u = tG 39 $# 7 9 $# 3. We recite to you ofthe news of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for a people who believe.

    4. Indeed, Pharaohexalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening a group among them, slaughtering their sons, and keeping alivetheir females. Indeed, he was of those who spread corruption.

    Z x !$ s ] i x n/ x u !$ o/ r& tG o u u !$ | 4 )

    % x. z t 9 $#

  • 5. And We intended that We confer favor upon those who were weak (and oppressed) in the land, and make them leaders andmake them the inheritors.

    n= y g w u Z r& n= yf t u O u 9$#

    6. And establish them in the land, and show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts through them that which they were fearful.

    z j3 y u m; F{$# y u t z y y u $ y y _ u

    7. And We sent inspirationto the mother of Moses that: Suckle him, so when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and do notfear, nor grieve. Indeed, We shall return him to you and shall make him of the messengers.

    )9 r' s d u9 $# u $ s rB u t trB ( $ ) !# u 7 s9 ) = % y u

    = y 9$# 8. Then the family of Pharaoh picked him up,that he might become for

    s s) tG 9 $$ s # u t t 6u 9 s9 #x t $ t ym u 3

  • them an enemy and a(cause of) grief. Indeed,Pharaoh and Haman andtheir hosts were deliberate sinners.

    ) t z y y u$ y y _ u (# $ 2

    yz 9. And Pharaohs wife said:(He will be) a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Donot kill him, perhaps that he may be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son.And they did not perceive.

    M s9$ s% u N r& t $# t N %& t k< y7 s9 u ( = F )s? # |t r& !$ o y x t r& x G t #V$ s! u u

    o 10. And the heart of the mother of Moses became empty. She would have disclosed his (case) if itwas not that We had strengthened her heart,that she might be of the believers.

    I s9 r& $ o t/ 4 n? t $ y 6= s% 3 tG 9 z 9 $#

    11. And she said to his sister: Follow him up. So she watched him fromafar, and they did notperceive.

  • 12. And We had preventedfor him foster suckling mothers before, so she said:Shall I tell you of a household that will bring him up for you and they will look after him well.

    * $ o ym u n= t y # t y 9 $# 6 s% M s9$ s) s y /3 9 r& # n? t

    r& ;M t/ t = 3 t 6 s9 u s9 s t

    13. So We restored him to his mother that her eyesmight be cooled and she might not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. Butmost of them do not know.

    14. And when he reached his full strength and was established, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. And thus do We reward those who do good.

    15. And he entered the city at a time when its people were heedless, and he found therein twomen fighting, one from his own caste, and the other

  • from his enemy. And he who was of his caste asked him for help againsthim who was of his enemy. So Moses struck him with his fist and killedhim. He said: This is from the work of Satan.Indeed, he is an enemy, a manifest misleader.

    16. He said: My Lord,indeed I have wronged my soul, so forgive me, then He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

    t 9$# m9 $# 17. He said: My Lord, for that You have bestowed favor upon me, I will then never be a helper of the criminals.

    t$ s% b> u !$ y / |M y r& n? t n= s . r& # Z s t f = j9

    18. And morning found him in the city, fearing,vigilant, when behold, he who had sought his help the day before, cried out to him for help. Moses said to him:You are certainly a plainmisguided man.

  • 19. Then when he (Moses)intended that he should seize the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said: O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed a soul yesterday. Your intention is none other than that you become a tyrant in the land, and youdo not intend to be of the reformers.

    ? r& r& _ n= G ) s? $ y x. |M = tG s%$ G t F{$$ / ( ) ? H ) r&

    t 3 s? #Y$ 7 y_ F{$# $ t u ? r& t 3 s? z ts= 9 $#

    20. And a man came fromthe farthest part of the city,running. He said: O Moses, indeed, the chiefs take counsel against you to kill you, so escape. Indeed, I amto you of those who give sincere advice.

    V| y 9 $# t s? ' t y7/ x8 = F ) u 9l z$$ s o ) y7 s9 z

    9 $# 21. So he escaped from there, fearing, vigilant. He said: My Lord, save me from the wrongdoingpeople.

  • 22. And when he turned his face toward Midian. He said: It may be that my Lord will guide me to the right way.

    $ s9 u t _ u s? u !$ s)= ? t t t$ s%4 |t n1 u r& _ t t u !# u y

    6 9 $# 23. And when he arrived atthe water of Midian, he found there a group of men, watering (their flocks).And he found apart fromthem two women keeping back (their flocks). He said:What is the matter with you. The two said: We do not give (our flocks) to drink until the shepherdstake back (their flocks). And our father is a very old man.

    ) o y y_ u u s? r& t $# #y s? ( t$ s% $ t

    $ y3 7 yz ( $ tG s9$ s% + n 4L ymu !$ th9 $# ( $ t / r& u x

    72 24. So he watered (their flocks) for them. Then he turned aside into the shade,and said: My Lord, indeed,whatever you send down for me of good, I am needy.

    4 s+ | s $ y s9 O #< u s? n< ) ej9 $#t$ s) s b> u o ) !$ y 9 |M9 t r& n< )

    9 yz ) s 25. Then there came to him one of the two (women),walking with shyness. She

    ? u!$ mg m $ y 1 yn ) s? n? t& !$ u sF $# M s9$ s% ) 1 r&

  • said: Indeed, my father calls you that he may reward youwith a payment for having watered (our flocks) for us.Then, when he came to himand narrated to him the story. He said: Do not fear. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people.

    n= t } | s)9 $# t$ s% # y s? (|N pg w s)9 $# t =9 $#

    26. One of the two women said: O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best onewhom you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy.

    M s9$ s% $ y 1 yn ) M t/ r' t f tG $# ( ) u yz t

    |N yf tG $# s) 9$# F{$# 27. He said: Indeed, I intend that I wed to youone of these two daughters of mine, on(the condition) that youserve me for eight years, but if you complete ten,so it will be (a favor) from you. And I do not intendthat I put a difficulty on you. You will find me, if Allah willing, from amongthe righteous.

  • 28. He said: That (is settled) between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I fulfill, so there will be no injustice to me. And Allah is a witness over whatwe say.

    n? t ( ! $# u 4 n? t $ t ) t2 u

    29. Then, when Moses had fulfilled the term, and was traveling with his family, he saw in the direction of Toor (Mount) a fire. He said to his family: Stay here, indeed, I have seen a fire. Perhaps I may bring to you from there some information, or a burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves.

    30. Then, when he came to it, he was called from the rightside of the valley in the blessed field, from the treethat: O Moses, indeed, Iam Allah, the Lord of
