Anna, put one tea, and dont load it with

sugar. Shiva said in Tamil as he dusted of an

old rusty chair and settled down to enjoy the

evening hues by the side of a busy road. Hehadnt been to his hometown in a while and he

recalled all the memories he had here growing

up.

But this was a long time ago. He was now here

on work. Specifically to find a new warehousefor his company, Flipkart. He remembered

the day he joined Flipkart. The people close to

him were skeptical about this new company.

But his grandfather reassured him by saying,

You either change with the times or you

change the times. You cant do that where you

are now. This new place seems like it could be

something solid. Its a leap of faith. Go for it.

These words resonated inside him as he

sipped his tea. Shiva, in a short time, had

come full circle. But the task at hand worried

him. Flipkart had sent him to Chennai to

search for a warehouse. They had asked for

an ideally small space to setup and start off

with operations. Shiva went through a lot of

options and had narrowed his search down to

two spaces. One was exactly according to the

requirements given to him and the other space

was almost ten times bigger.He knew the company was growing very

rapidly, therefore they would surely need

a space this big. But how was he going to

convince his work folk that this was a good

deal. He thought that his idea would have to

go through many bureaucratic levels beforebeing forgotten for good. He thought hed not

be taken seriously.

The chaiwalla noticed Shiva looking a little

distressed and asked him what was on his

mind. After learning about the situation hesaid, It will work out saar, never be afraid to

take the leap of faith. Pleasantly surprised,

Shiva just smiled and made the call to his

office. After a brief explanation, they not only

agreed to the idea but also commended him.

They understood his foresight and gave him

a go ahead instantaneously. A few days later

Shiva got promoted to handle and run the

entire South India division of Flipkart. Every

time Shiva remembers this incident, hes glad

he thought on his feet and acknowledges the

support he got form his office. And of course he

remembers the chai.

Prithvi was pacing nervously up and down

the railway platform. He took out his phone

and stared at it wishing it to ring. His train to

Jaipur from Bangalore was about to leave in

ten minutes. He went to his dialed calls list

and called the number again, no response. He

looked at the Second AC ticket in his hand

and continued staring at the entrance of the

platform.

Prithvis mind went back to that Wednesday

night when he got a call just as he wasboarding his train from Jaipur to Bangalore,

from his nephew, his brothers son, who lived

in Bikaner, a beautiful town in Rajasthan,

excitedly announced that he had decided to

take up a career in medicine. He remembered

how proud he felt upon hearing that hisbeloved nephew had regained his focus after

the death of his father last year and was now

doing something constructive with his life.

Prithvi wanted to show how proud he was of

his nephew and thought that he would get him

something very nice as a reward for his efforts

and also as a token of his love and appreciation.

He thought of the usual things, watches, sun-

glasses, clothes, etc. But then he thought that

he should give him something that would help

him clear his exams with ease. He was a reallysmart kid and just needed the right tools to

help him crack the upcoming entrance exams.

Prithvi wondered where and how he could get

all the required study material which was not

easy to get a hold of.

He went to more than ten different shops

in three different shopping malls but could

not find the books that he needed. He went

back to his hotel room pretty dejected. He

went online and on his facebook page saw

an advertisement for an Flipkart. He went

and checked and yes, the material he needed

was readily available. The pricing was alsobetter than any place he had inquired at. He

immediately bought the books. But, there was

a catch, the delivery time was at a minimum

of four days. And Prithvi was leaving in two.

Prithvi immediately called Flipkart and told

them about his dilemma. They said that it wasokay and that his parcel would be delivered

to wherever he wanted in the country. He

decided to get it sent to Jaipur. Feeling happy,

Prithvi went to sleep. The next couple of

days went by very quickly. On the day of his

departure, he felt happy that the books wouldbe there when he got to Jaipur.

Prithvi jumped from his reverie as the loud

horn of the train blew right next to him. As he

was getting on to the train just at it was about

to start moving, he saw a man running towards

the train. His parcel had come. Flipkart had

come through! He received the parcel just as

his train was moving and thanked the delivery

person profusely. Flipkart had gone out oftheir way just so he could personally give his

nephew the books he had ordered without

worrying about it as he got to Jaipur. He went

to his seat and sat, now extremely excited to see

the look on his nephews face when he gave the

gift to him. Life was good again.
