Welcome to our Summer programme. Excitement is escalating as we are on the verge of a major change, and not just for us. That change is inspiringly positive with investment in the Piece Hall, new Central Library and the wider Halifax area.

Our official launch will take place in the autumn, but in the meantime, our summer season sees the growth of our popular film programme, a new affordable pricing structure, a new look and feel brand and soon to follow – our state of the art building with a purpose built cinema and café-bar.

Our Friday morning films have been a huge success, in a very Square Chapel way, and a whole community has developed around them. Over the summer, you can enjoy our growing film programme - screenings of the best, most interesting artistic films - screened across evenings and weekends.

We are committed to being accessible and having affordable ticket prices is part of that. We have introduced ‘Pay What You Can’ for some of our shows and events. This pricing structure is based on trust. It’s about you making a judgement for yourself about what you can afford to pay (between £1-£20). All we ask is that you take a chance on something new for whatever price encourages you to come along and experience Square Chapel.

From late summer, enjoy our new café-bar where you can expect seasonal, high quality, local produce drawing on the history and shared heritage of our area. Our new café-bar is far more spacious and housed in a stunning copper and glass extension with the same warm welcome from our staff and volunteers and with craft beers, wines and coffee to choose from, you won’t want to go elsewhere.

With so many exciting changes happening around us, we can guarantee that our identity, ethos and focus on both high quality art and the community in which it is based, will always remain. We believe in bringing people together; that the world is better with stronger, cohesive communities full of tolerance, understanding, creativity and self expression. Your arts centre is a place to come together for the best performances, food, films, conversations and drinks; a place to feel open-hearted and alive.

It is all of you, friends, audiences and volunteers, that have made Square Chapel the success that it is today and it’s you who we need to bring life and warmth to this stunning new building we’ve created. So, browse our new look brochure and we look forward to you being part of our exciting future.
