In the interest of Public safety, please note that all vehicles attending must be insured for use on and off the road and that there is a maximum speed limit on the Rally Field and Public car park of 5 mph.

In addition, the reversing of all vehicles is prohibited without the guidance of a Marshall when and where appropriate.

If you have any concerns during the event, please report them to a Marshall or the Commentator on the day.

2014 Rally Chairman’s Report.

Once more thank you to all who came and I hope enjoyed the 2014 Chiltern Hills Vintage Vehicle Rally. However keen and enthusiastic I may be as chairman, nothing would be possible without the committee and willing team of supporters .But the help does not stop there, friends and family have all striven to do their bit and our Girls in the hospitality tent kept us all fed and watered .My thanks must also go to June Pender, who after the very sad loss of her husband Bob, she bravely carried on as our treasurer. Well done June. Again the entries were up on last year, how many years we will be able to say this! The Rally has gone from strength to strength. We were delighted to have the chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council Mr. Michael Rand to judge the Chairman’s choice and to present the trophies to the winners of various classes. The Aylesbury Town Mayor Tuffail Hussain presented the Town cup to the winner. A very special highlight of the day was the display of two resplendent Cubitt Cars. How many of you know their history? The move to Weedon Park, whilst some questioned this, proved to be a good one with a record number through the gate and we were well supported with a varied assortment of trade stands and amusements. Welcome“Classic Aware”: a campaign promoting the importance of having one’s classic vehicle checked and maintained on a regular basis.

Is your vehicle roadworthy?Since November 2012, obligatory MoT tests have been scrapped for any vehicle registered prior to 1 January 1960. The forthcoming EU Roadworthiness Directive calls for 30-year-old (and older) vehicles, to be given some form of exemption from testing.

Can YOU prove it?Even if not requiring an MoT, the burden of responsibility to prove the vehicle is roadworthy falls onto the individual driving the vehicle at the time of any accident and/or offence.

Classic Aware’s mission statement: Prove it.The new campaign intends to encourage classic vehicle owners to have the appropriate safety checks, procedures and thorough inspections carried out by an independent 3rd party, i.e. not just the owner.

The Ford Transit is 50 years old 1965 -2015

The Ford Transit was first launched in October 1965 taking its name from the German Built Taunus Transit which finished production in 1965 and replacing the old faithful Ford Thames 400E. Starting life as a panel van, it quickly became a minibus, pickup, recovery vehicle, Ice-cream van and many other variations. It’s had many facelifts over the years, becoming better and more versatile with each generation and with the fourth Generation Transit launched in 2000 it offered a choice of front or rear wheel drive, now with the latest vans having Bluetooth, Hill hold, Rain sensing Wipers, and 6 speed gearboxes. First assembled in Langley near Heathrow in 1965 but moving complete production and assembly to Southampton in 1972, the first automated production line in the world. Production of the Transit van sadly stopped in Southampton in July 2013 where assembly moved to Turkey.

Later the transit became so versatile with an extreme combination of options, wheelbase, axles, engine sizes, sliding or fixed doors, hinged or hatch, short wheel base to high top, double cab pickup, tipper or motorway services vehicle the options were endless. Whatever you have bought in your life, wherever you have worked there is sure to have been a transit involved.

The total production of the Transit exceeded 7 million in 2013 and it’s increasing rapidly, it’s not surprising that the Transit soon became known as the “The backbone of Britain”.

The Triumph TR7 Celebrating Its 40TH Birthday. 1975-‐2015

The Triumph TR7 was manufactured from September 1974 to October 1981 by the Triumph Motor Company (which was part of British Leyland) The car was launched in the United States in January 1975, with its UK home market debut in May 1976. It was initially produced at Speke factory Liverpool then Canley, Coventry in 1978 and then finally to the Rover Solihull plant in 1980. Moving the Factory, combined with industrial action meant that the TR7 was produced for little over 6 years.

The 2014 Chiltern Hills Rally raised £16,000 after costs. This was despite our difficulties in moving from the well-‐known venue at Weston Turville to Weedon, which added to our costs this year.

This is where we decided to distribute some of the money to help change some people’s lives.

The above donations are the main reason we hold this event. In the 21 years, The Game Club (Chiltern Hills Rally) has raised over £250,000 to help local people and causes.

Every car and trade stand entered as well as money spent on children’s rides and refreshments you buy on the day helps us to raise this amazing amount of money. We couldn’t do any of it without you and we look forward to seeing you to do it all again next year!
