Lot had become soaccustomed to taking fromAbram that it never occursto him that Abrams was notobligated to give himanything. 3. Lot had taken Abramswealth, generosity andkindness for granted.Life with YHWH 11. Lot the TakerUsers and Abusers1. Use people as objects and take advantage of kindness and generosity.2. Abuse friendship and compassion. They use people until the use them up and then find someone else to use. 12. Entitled to what everyone else has not earned; but given Entitled to yours mine and theirs. What mine is mine and whats yours is mine! Life owes me! 1. Family, spouse, children, boss.government owes me. 2. Everybody owes meLife with YHWHsomething! 14. Takers say: 1. Honey if you really love methen you would 2. I expected way more than this! 3. Lots Lust of the Eyes - Genesis 13:10-11 The scripture does not say that Lot: 1. prayed to God to consider if he should leave hisuncles care. 2. asked God for guidance in selecting the land. 3. was sad or grieved that he was leaving Abram. 4. thanked Abram for everything he had done forhim being a father to him when his father died andproviding for him all these years. 5. pledged allegiance to him if Abram ever neededhis help.Life with YHWH 18. Lots Decisions and Consequences 1. Captured by eastern marauders, Taken captive, then rescued byUncle Abraham Genesis 14:1-16 2. Offered his daughters to be molested by his ungodly andvicious neighbors 3. Entire household operated in the spirit of rebellion! 4. Life was saved but he lost his possessions and his property inthe burning city of Sodom Genesis 19; Luke 17:28,29 5. Commits incest with his daughters Genesis 19:30-38 whichResulted in the birth of his Descendants who were theAMMONITES MOABITESidolaters who conspired and foughtagainst the children of Israel.Life with YHWH 19. ABRAMS COVENANT EXPANDED GENESIS 13:14-18Life with YHWH 20. Lots Lessons 1. Everything that looks good is not always good for you! 2. Pray, Ask God or seek godly counsel before making lifedecisions. 3. God is a God of Many chances. God rescued Lot severaltimes in spite of his poor decisions. 4. You cant live with the Sodomites and not be affected by theirlifestyle, culture and mindset. His whole household wasadversely affected by his poor decision. 5. Whenever we make poor decisions we must live with theconsequences. The Moabites and the Ammonites are birthedin our own homes.Life with YHWH 21. Summary 1. God was waiting patiently for me just like He waited on Lot. 2. God was ready to rescue me just like he rescued Lot 3. God was ready to save me just like he saved Lot from Sodom 4. God says Its never too late to Turn your life around anddont look back like Lots wife. Leave the past in the past! 5. God gave me this sermon in June 2007 because he wanted tosee the areas in my life where I was a Lot like Lot. 6.
