To go to the next or previous page, use the arrows at the bottom of Acrobat. To go to a

specific page, choose the menu option View/Go to. Use the rotate page option within View menu

option if you need to rotate the pages sideways to read them.

You do not have to print the party all at once. It is stored on your computer and you can come

back to the file anytime.

Before you print you should have on hand: (you do not have to print everything at once)

1. White bond paper (regular printing paper)

2. White card stock for the invitations, thank you cards and perhaps some of the activity

materials.

3. Iron-on transfer paper if you plan to create a T-shirt iron-on .

Card stock is also called index stock or 110-pound paper. The designs are not setup to use

perforated greeting card stock. It’s assumed you will cut the invitations on the crop marks.

You can find both card stock and T-shirt iron transfer paper at your local office supply store.

Single sheets of card stock may be available at print shops like

Before Your Party

The Invitational Artists' Faire is a PartiKit with an artistic theme. The party is intended for children ages fourto ten and should last between 2 and 3 hours depending on whether you serve a meal.

Your PartiKit includes many of the ingredients you need for your party, except party favors, supplies, tablewarefood and utensils. These materials are listed in the last section. Allow yourself an hour to prepare after you’vepurchased your supplies, plus your cake baking and decorating time.

InvitationsYou will find 8 invitations (for 7 guests plus 1 spare) in your kit with which to invite your artist friends. It isbest if you distribute them at lease two weeks in advance of the party date.

A few days before the party date, call any guests who have not responded.

Room decorationsPrint the door welcome banner and the Happy Birthday banner from the PartiKit file. Remove the inside marginswith scissors and tape the banners together. Hang them at the door and in the room. Print as many bannersas you want to decorate with.

Cake decorationsYour PartiKittm file includes an artist's palette template to help you decorate the cake as shown in the photobelow. You can print it on bond paper, or if you want to leave this on the cake like the photo, print it on amanilla filing folder cut to an 8.5" by 11" size.

To decorate the cake, you will need:Three paint brushesFour cups of white icing.A baked 9" x 13" cake.Four or five differently colored decorating icing tubes.Two packages of tiny size Chiclets .One package of Life Saver Holes or jelly beans.

1. Ice the top and sides of your baked and cooled

cake with the white icing.

2. Cut out the pallet template and lightly lay it on the center of the cake. You can decorate the pallet on thecake and remove it before serving (go to step 4)

3. Trace the shape of a pallet on your iced cake with a toothpick and remove the pallet. Draw over thetoothpick line with the icing from a decorating tube.

4. Squeeze wide strips of icing, 1" to 2" long, from the tubes on the cake palette. These should look likepaint from a paint tube.

5. Decorate the cake with the Life Saver Holes or jelly beans by placing them along the top edge of thecake.

6. Write HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the cake using the tiny Chiclets.

7. Place a paint brush on each side of the pallet and lightly press one onto the front side of the cake (theicing will secure them in place).

Prepare for the activitiesSet up your party area as an art studio, with lots of room for the activities. Protect your table(s) for easyclean-up and give each artist her own work space. The work space and eating table can be one in the same.

Iron-on the ‘Handful of Artists’ transfer to the t-shirt or pillow case following the transfer paper’s instructions

Cut out the door knob hangers.

Provide a covered work area for the Handful of Artists activity. It is best if this is near a sink so the artistscan easily wash their hands. Baby wipes are also an easy way for the artists to wash the paint from theirhands. Place the Handful of Artists activity on top of the paper with some paper or card board in between theshirt. Pour the fabric paint onto individual plates.

Label the party favors and party bags with your guests' names.

Prepare for the gamesDetermine where and how you will hang the poster to be used as the "Pin the Flower on the Stem" game orthe Pin the Paint Brush game. Provide clear tape to attach the flowers or brush tops to the poster.

Activity 1 HHandful of Artists Poster

Game 1 Smile for the Picture

Review the party games described in this booklet. There are more games than you will probably play during yourparty. This allows you to choose those games appropriate to your guests ages and activity levels.

Pre-party entertainment

Upon completion, this becomes a treasured memento for the birthday child from all her friends at the partyPreparation: Provide a covered work area for the "Happy Birthday From A Handful Of Artists" activity. Placea permanent marker next to the work area. Provide some paper towels and soap, or baby wipes for easyclean-up.

Empty each paint color onto an individual paper plate.

The Fun: Have each artist choose a paint color and paint the palm of her hand. Press her hand on the materialfor a few seconds. Write the artist's name next to the palm or finger with a permanent marker.

Tips: If the hand is slightly damp with water, the paint will cover more easily. For a creative look, write thename in a different place on each hand. Be sure to wash the plates before the paint dries.

Object: Make everyone laugh.

The Game: Everyone stands in a circle with one player in the center. The player in the center steps up toone of those around the circle, looks the person right in the eye, and says: "Smile for the picture".

The other player answers, "I can't smile". If this player cannot keep from smiling, she must enter the circleand join the first player in trying to make the others smile. If the center player is unsuccessful in makingher smile, she moves to another player and repeats "Smile for the picture".

Game 2 Mona Lisa

Game 3 Pin the Flower or Paint Brush

The players might have to try very hard to come up with their funniest faces to make the last person smile.But the game should end with everyone smiling and giggling. Now it's time for you to take a real picture.

Object: Find Mona Lisa.

The Game: All the players close their eyes and start walking around the play area. The adult party leadersilently taps one player on the head; that player is Mona Lisa, who now stands still with her eyes open.

When one person bumps into another, they ask one another "Mona Lisa?". If they hear "Mona Lisa" in return,they know they have not found Mona Lisa because the real Mona Lisa can't talk.

When the player asks, "Mona Lisa?" and there is no reply, the asking player knows that she has found theright person; she then takes Mona Lisa's hand and opens her eyes. Once a player is on the "Mona Lisa"line, she cannot talk either. As the line grows, each player who finds Mona Lisa must feel her way to oneend of the line, with eyes closed, before holding hands and opening her eyes. Finally all the players are onthe Mona Lisa line.

Preparation: Provide each artist with a doorknob hanger, ruler, and markers.

The Fun: While you are getting the cake and drinks ready, the artists will stay busy at the table by decoratingtheir doorknob hangers.

Enjoy the party cake

Preparation: While you are removing the cake and drinks from the table, have your guests color the game flowerwith their colored pencils.

Game 4 The Sightless Sculpture

The Game: Attach a strip of clear tape to the guests flower or paintbrush tip. Blindfold one artist at a time,with her flower or paint brush in her hand, turn her around three times and point her toward the picture.

The blindfolded artist walks to the picture and places the item on the correct place on the game. The firstplace it touches is where it is fastened.

Tip: It's fun to play this game with the other children coaching the blindfolded child by telling her "higher, lower,left or right". In this way, everyone is always involved in the game.

Object: Create a human sculpture

The Game: You will need three players to act as: an artist, a model, and a "piece of clay".

The model takes a pose and holds it for a few moments. The artist and the "piece of clay" then close theireyes. The artist tries to place the "clay" in the exact same position as the model. With the clay staying inposition, both open their eyes, and the model stands next to the clay and takes the original pose that the artistwas suppose to "mold" the "clay" into. Continue the game with three new players.

Tip: If your artists are young and have trouble with their eyes closed, have them keep their eyes open. Ifthey still have trouble, have the model hold her shape while the artist creates the sculpture.

Printing and Assembling Instructions

There is one poster game and one welcome banner in this kit. Each is printed on 4 sheets of paper. Lay the piecesnext to one another to resemble the finished poster.

Cut the bottom margin from the top two papers (1 and 2).Cut the right margins from the two left papers(1 and 3).

Line the papers together so the image is lined up correctly at the top and the bottom..Put small pieces of tape to secure the papers, use just enough to be able to turn it over and still have the image staytogether.

Attach as much tape as you want to the back of the poster to secure it together.

You may wish to trim the overall margins so they are even.
