Summary

1. pH is elevated to extremes by severe suspended algal densities avg. pH = 8.4 (max 8.84 units).

2. Total Phosphorus Is low, avg 0.27 mg P/l, less than 0.3 mg/l targeted for urban rivers by OEPA.

3. Nitrate was high ~ 4.0 mg N/l, max 13 mg N/l from row crops.

4. N:P molar ratio was 18:1, > Richardson ratio of 14, with excess N. Algae likely P-limited.

5. Conductivity = 673 uS, max 1084 uS about normal for limestone bedrock.

6. Fecal coliforms = median 100, avg. 567, max = 14700 polluted.

What’s New for 2011?

• We have received an equipment grant from Hamilton County Soil and Water District to buy all new meters and spectrophotometer, and supplies for 2011.

• We have applied for a public outreach grant from the same source to expand the public’s awareness of the watershed and its health.
