ד“בס Volume 37 Issue 23
One of the קרבנות discussed in this week’s פרשה is the תודה. Four specific situations call for a special show of gratitude to ה‘ . These are: when someone had crossed the ocean safely, or had crossed the desert safely, or had been released from jail, or was healed from sickness. (See י“רש 7:12) Certainly, one may bring a קרבן תודה even he did not experience any of these situations; though generally, one brings a תודה upon being saved from danger. (See ם“רשב 7:12) The פסוק says, ִאם ַעל ּתֹוָדה ַיְקִריֶבּנּו. If he shall offer it for a thanksgiving offering …” The accepted definition of the word תודה, thanksgiving, is gratitude and appreciation. When someone says thank you, he is saying, "I appreciate what you did for me." Rabbi Yitzchak Kotzker notes that the word תודה also expresses the concept of admission and confession. When one confesses to another, he is in effect conveying a message of agree-ment with the other party's view. The idea that connects these two approaches to the meaning of the word lies in the depths of human nature. Man's instinct is to be independent, aspiring and eager to show that he is capable of taking care of himself. When he expresses his appreciation to anoth-er person, however, he is actually acknowledging - confessing, so to speak - that he needs others. Rav Simcha Wasserman once visited someone. Upon entering the house, he said to his host, "Thank you, thank you so much." The host asked, "What are you thanking me for, Rav Simcha? I didn't do anything." Rav Simcha answered, "I am thanking you for your smile, because it warms my heart." On that note, I would like to take this opportunity to express my הכרת הטוב to the הנהלת הישיבה of RYNJ and to all my colleagues for the wonderful environ-ment, the מקום תורה that we are all part of. May we be זוכה to see only נחת from all our children! Shabbat Shalom and Purim Sameach! Rabbi Kitay

From the Music Corner by Morah Hadasasah Zitter We are all enjoying an exciting musical year in the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey. We have many enthusiastic and talented stu-
dents who are singing and performing their way through the calendar year.
On Thursday March 17, 2016, under the leadership of their music teacher Mrs. Zitter a.k.a Morah Hadassa, we had two recitals in
RYNJ. We would like to thank all those who participated. We had musicians on piano, guitar, violin, coronet, recorder, flute and
drums – representing all four sections of the orchestra: strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion
The following students participated in this year’s programs: (Names are listed in the order in which they performed.)
Gila Rosman (drums), Gavriella Sandler (keyboard), Shayna Eizikovitz (guitar), Baruch Goldenberg (drums), Chanala Elishis (piano),
Sophie Knapp (piano), Atara Goldstein (piano), David Elishis (guitar), Eli Mogilensky (piano), Akiva Parver (coronet), Amir Glaser
(piano), Elisha Gamss (piano), Gavriel Glass (guitar), Tani Glaser (piano), Judah Vogel (electric guitar),Yitzi Rosenbluth (flute), Moshe
Rosenbluth (violin), Avigayil Rosenbluth (flute) played her own composition, Elisheva Tamarov & Milla Gitlin (piano duet) and Arielle
Krinitz (drums). These students performed in the first recital.
Our second recital, which by the way was part of our 17th annual program, included the following students: Sorole Fried (piano), Ora
Stavsky (piano), Adira Shor (piano),
Dassi Schiff (piano), Chani Shulman (piano), Miriam Blech (piano), Shifra ahtz (guitar), Emunah Aspir (recorder), Sara Moskowitz
(piano), Arielle Bell (piano), Sara Kahan (recorder), Shira Lejtman (piano), Adina Shapiro (piano), Chana Aspir (recorder), Talia Disten-
feld (piano), Avigayil Rosenbluth (flute), Elisheva Tamarov & Milla Gitlin (piano duet) and Arielle Krinitz (drums). Represented in
these performances were children in first through eighth grade.
Our thanks go to all those brave and talented musicians who entertained the school at these recitals. Some of our students have
been performing for many years and it is truly exciting to see the progress they have made. A shout-out to the wonderful and
dedicated parents who schlepped the instruments into school – particularly the drum set that had to be dismantled and assembled
– not an easy job! We also enjoyed seeing so many of the families who joined us for the performances.
Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a CHAG PURIM SAMEACH.

Miss Leibling guided her 3rd grade girls to better under-
